As mentioned , I tried demonstrating simple "techniques" for a beginner. I am a more experienced painter so I also used more complex techniques when drawing my tree. As far as painting from top to bottom, I am able to paint the end of the branch while maintaining the thickness I want, which can more difficult for a starter. Thanks for stopping by though!

You did not follow your rules. So, i guess there are no rules. Just follow your instincts. Of course the more you practice and observe nature, the better you get. You don't have to paint the color of real life. Clouds are not really white. Good luck. The fast timing video works better than those talking for a long time. Take care.

you broke so many of your own rules as well as others, including painting strokes backwards from top to bottom, painting everything off the page, repeated patterns, etc. you demonstrated one type of stroke then scratched at the picture without using any of the strokes you showed

Even with a paint brush you can draw. Look at the brush he is using and the way he is holding the brush. He's drawing with the paint brush. I didn't see him doing any fancy tricks like a lot of landscape painting requires.
