always make sure if you are getting an excisional biopsy for a suspected case of melanoma(dont take my word for it do your own research)that the biopsy is preformed longitudinal(vertical)on an extremity(leg or arm)and never transverse(across)because if it is done tranverse it can have an adverse effect on the results of a sentinel lymph node biopsy.if your pathology report states you need a slnb it will also state you will need a wide excision both of these ops should be done at the same time
n.c.c..n stands for national comprehensive cancer network . a.j.c.c stands for american joint committe cancer control . most all guidelines world wide for cancer use or style there cancer guidelines from these. for instance if you have being diagnosed with say melanoma after an excisional biopsy of a mole or skin leision you will be given a primary stage according to the a.j.c.c. subject to further tests like a sentinel lymph node biopsy. which is a test to see if cancer has spread.
hi doctor.i know this is a biopsy for bcc but should ent you have preformed it longitudinal and not transverse I know that according to the nccn guidelines for melanoma, excisional biopsy of an extremity should be preformed longitudinal with narrow margins so that the lymph system is left as intact as possible in case a patient needs a sentinel lymph node biopsy after the inital excisional biopsy.i am also lead to believe that transverse biopsys dont nit back together as well as longitudinal
Great informative show. I had this done today. In the same spot. Now have 2 more to go on my shoulder. And I had Mohs on my upper cheek on monday.Repair today as they streatched the skin from my temple. After making more cuts. Now I'm in pain and look like a mummy.
If this is really true how the procedure will be done I think will be o.k. with the outcome but from the looks of the scars I have seen on other websites and from so many people I think I will just hide under a rock the rest of my life after the procedure. :(
I love the music you put to this. So beautiful! I just had this procedure done today, and I'm so happy to be rid of that thing on my arm. I took some video of it but most of it didn't turn out very good. If I can salvage enough good footage I may post it on YT. LOL
Yep... this is the procedure I had done on Thursday- still waiting to see the stitches... & take a shower!... I made a vid of my surgery... & will upload it soon- under- Miss Ruby Tuesday - The Danger of Tanning Beds
