Love the first Kimura. I use something very similar to this that I apply from my back... That crucifix behind their head is brutal. If you twist onto your hip, you can use your knees to force them face down and prevent an effective roll, making it easier to apply the kimura.
i love this technique, thanks for sharing it, the funnest part is when they roll over into thinking they are escaping and BAM!! they are forced to tap.
Cool variations! Nice post! I don't know if I like the idea of giving up such a dominant position for a guard submission as shown in the 2nd variation, just because If you can't sub him, you no longer have the mount. I like variation 3; it's very sneaky and seems like there's not much room for him to wiggle out of in the transition. Great explanation!
There's a lot of fancy options once you secure that arm-lock at 0:18, but with any decent opponent, getting to that position is like 95% of the effort. As you're fighting to lock in that ude garami, your balance is shifted forward, over his shoulder and you're essentially locking your own arm down. If you go for this, you'd better be able to secure the lock before your opponent's Upa.
i like this variation but i go strait for the rotaiting arm bar setup frm there if he trys to sit up throw the leg over the back n finish with the kimura
Cool stuff. What is preventing the guy from grabbing his inner thigh with his danger arm? Plus couldn't he rotate his hips toward his danger hand, stepping over you and get out? Maybe this is the consideration for all Kimura's. Good ideas. Thanks.
anyone asking "what happens if he doesn't sit up" doesn't really understand jiu jitsu because 2/3 of the moves shown here are applied when the opponent doesn't sit up. However, in Jiu Jitsu, most people will sit up because they will view his shift in weight as a mistake and will try to roll into the opponents guard which is much safer than being mounted on. This move is based on anticipating the roll but also troubleshooting in case he doesn't roll.
@Momentimum heheh are you an american? cuz i notice you guys often roll that way, i always been taught to start trying to guide my opp to the position i want
@Hellem09 LOL thnx you made my day.... cuz you know the people who teach in these videos didnt spend any money or mat time to get as good as they are to teach you this stuff online.... they just watched youtube too
@vginawhisperer you have a point there, but i guess this move is especially well-used when your opponent is stronger than you and/or you lose your balance, then you can use it.
The first one tends to work better if you lean without bringing your leg up and let them hip bump, once they hip bump, you bring your leg up wide and they think they have a sweep, but they don't. I noticed when I brought my leg up, they wouldn't roll into it... then I just look dumb... like a dog and a fire hydrant haha
@Submissions101 Very sweet move, I like it a lot. I have one question on the armlock. Isn't it easy for the bottom guy to just sit up, grab tha arm that is being attack and end up in guard. How does the top guy prevent that from happening?
Busted this out today against some kid who's better than me. Got him =D

Beautiful technique.
MrKauanaulu 10 months ago
The 3rd technique looks the most efficient. I don't like relying on their movements, I prefer forcing the opponent to do what I want.

lagook 10 months ago
@lagook That's exactly what I just said... and my profile says I'm Canadian. How can you just generalize like that?
Momentimum 10 months ago
@lagook What I meant by forcing was, giving them no other option than to move into a position in my favour.

gregory57481 10 months ago
Nice video...but you can finish the Kimura from the mount without sacrificing top position. These variations don't seem to be the best options IMO.
