  • This would be perfect for making Hard Trance Kick drums :D

*I wonder if this is what Vengeance-sound uses for their samples O.o

When i can afford this (*along with my expected baby :3 ) I'll buy it :D

  • dont mea to be stupid but could someone explain how this would work?? do you sequence it with something else??im new to this kinda stuff just trying to get into it

    if you can help cheers

  • Can you layer two presets on module?

  • i really urgently need to know how i can run the mbase 11 and controll its parameters via midi and perhaps even trigger more than one sound at the time...

i would really apreciate the help of any body... thank you very much

  • does anyone know if there exists a frequency chart, because the fundamental pitch doesn't seem to be indicated in Hertz - this would make it easier to 'tune' kick drums to match the key of a track. would also be good to archive kicks (i could add the pitch to the filenames)

  • would it be possible to connect the midi on this to a roland hand sonic and play it's samples like that? i want to set this up with the mbrane and i can't find it anywhere if they will take different midi channels for different sounds, i.e. out put two different kicks for two different pads.

  • @CaptainErn Yes you could play the MBase with the Handsonic via midi but the Jomox will only play one sound at a time.

  • @CaptainErn

I've connected my mbase01 and airbase via the nord modular G2 which converts the midi-notes coming from my MPC2000XL to patchchange information. 11 pads trigger the sounds of mbase and airbase and the rest of the notes control which patch (kit-preset) is being played. Nice thing of Jomox... changing patch happens instantly :P

So I make up two sequences: one for the drum-rhythm and one for preset-sequencing. No extra midichannels needed and all kits instantly available..

  • @sirsicksik eh, eh, eh.. :) could you elaborate a bit more please: you say you can select more than one sound with external control of the jomox mbase 11? but how do you do it? can it be done with a normal midi controller? it would be great if you elaborate more for me as this is something i am extremely busy in finding out about....

pm me if you want - thanksssss

  • @detroitcalling

Basic thing what I do is this:

I send one midi-sequence with note-information about which sounds to play (kick/snare/hihat/toms/etcetera)

Along side of this I send patchchange messages to the airbase (or mbase, but I'm gonna sell that one after all, need money for a new mixer... ) :(

These patchchange messages are created based on played note info. gate-on=send patchchange, pitch 0-127=patchnumber 0-127

So my MPC plays notes, Nord G2 makes patchchanges of them

  • Does anyone know (because of the single trigger input) if this module can be "split" to accommodate double bass drum sets? Maybe some kind of split cable? Thanks in advance.

  • Get your KICKS on Route 66...

I could see adding this to my digital drum machines for that extra analogue bass power

  • does this have trigger inputs to trigger an acoustic bass drum ?

  • Yes, there is a trigger input which would allow you to use a microphone on an acoustic bass drum to trigger the MBase 11.

  • can this thing sequence?

  • No, It's designed to be controlled from a separate MIDI sequencer, or even, as demonstrated here a controller keyboard.

  • das ding ist schon so gut wie gekauft^^

  • I'm drooling over this thing. It is a lot to shell out just for a kick drum synth but I'm just thinking of the possibilities for live use - on a big PA this could do some *damage* !

  • I appreciate that bigcitymusic is the only one to make a video on this great kick synth :) It's a great kick! perfect add on to any drum machine.

  • a question > is the mbase 11 better than mbase 01 ?

  • yes, but both are nice pieces^^

  • On one hand, this does sound great. On the other hand, I cannot rationalize spending $350+ on a device that makes one sound...

  • as you can hear....it makes not only one sound, it makes the ultimate kick-drum.

it makes the kickdrum, that can make your production special.

it makes your kickdrum sound however you want.

  • I paid €1800+ for a Rhodes xD One sound too

  • Heh, a valid point. I'm not 100% sure that is an apples to apples comparison though.

  • haha im sure it's not :P

  • Based on what I've seen from this:

pro - concentrated on bass & drum (= more dedicated controls for that purpose)

con - why is there only 1 rotary knob to control the parameter that you have to select first?

anyway, nice to see & hear this thing for the first time :)
