@f4jmontreal In the US (Texas, specifically), we have a mandatory arrest law. So, when a woman does hit a man, she is arrested. Things get a lot more complicated, on both sides, when it comes to proving the other forms of abuse, though. Perhaps you can suggest a bill, modeled off of the Texas one I am making an assumption that your not a lawyer--therefore, the blueprint/skeleton of the law would help expedite the procedure. I am not downing trying to down Canadian law, with this suggestion.

@Retro90Flashback Also, this doesn't necessarily have to do SOLELY with physical abuse, too. It is true that men do account as more documented physical abusers than women. This doesn't mean you can just IGNORE abuse to men, however. Plus, the psychological abuse is usually interconnected with physical abuse. Women are just as likely to instigate abuse as men, whether or not it's PURELY physical abuse. Feeling alienated and trapped, or being threatened by a spouse could be equally as harmful.

Things get a lot more complicated, on both sides, when it comes to proving the other forms of abuse, though. Perhaps you can suggest a bill, modeled off of the Texas one I am making an assumption that your not a lawyer--therefore, the blueprint/skeleton of the law would help expedite the procedure. Men can MOST assuredly be abused by a woman emotionally and mentally, but physical idk. Even when you look at genetics men are built stronger,faster, and normally taller than a woman. Another problem is a woman can use weapons or perhaps the man is in a position where he cant defend hilself? she can run him over with a car? @Kenshiroit- Yes, a lot of women are bigger than man and are now interested in karate and muay tai and yes women can also use weapons and cars,etc. There are plenty of instances where the woman turns it on the man and it is difficult-I am sure for cops/authority figures to take men seriously. But at the same time weapons can be used on women just the same- knives in the kitchen, cleaning products that either one can throw in the eyes or force down the mouth.It all depends on the situation...

This becomes relevant in the fact that women cannot relatiate in a way which is legally permissible against their husbands, which in turn justifies harsher laws against men attacking helpless women. Added to this equation is that knives are only found in kitchens, and not always effective.

This doesn't mean you can just IGNORE abuse to men, however. Plus, the psychological abuse is usually interconnected with physical abuse. Women are just as likely to instigate abuse as men, whether or not it's PURELY physical abuse. Feeling alienated and trapped, or being threatened by a spouse could be equally as harmful.

@leilei383 no, you give me a break. instead of checking stats that have been corrupted by feminism, check REAL ones. research in the last 25 years has shown that men and women act violent in a relationship at about the same rate. the fiebert bibliography has done over 100 studies which end in the conclusion that women are as likely, or more likely, to commit abuse as men. the belief that "women only act in self defense" is a bunch of baloney, not true. domestic violence is NOT a gender issue.

@leilei383 assault in men are largely under-reported because 1) they are less likely to make the report in the first place, especially since domestic violence campaigns have made women more aware of this problem as a crime. 2) Many crime surveys don't take into consideration police arrest logs at all, thus leading these surveys to being very biased against men. In so many cases it is the man that makes the call, yet it is the man that ends up getting arrested because the women convinces the cops

What women do to men is mostly psychological and this also must stop. All forms of violence against either sex are detrimental to all involved, men and women.
