Which of all the cars u mentioned does best in the terrain do you think? And what about the economy? Most American cars have waay oversized engines that makes them guzzle even more gas than already prejudiced by their size and weight. A 5 liter stock car will go no faster than this Lada 1,6.
My Russian friends! Can somebody explain to me why they paint this great offroader in only four (mostly ugly) colors? Is it that hard to paint it in some modern color?!
Very mixed feeling about a Chevy badge on the nose. Nice to see a new model, but it's a little bland looking, Suzuki, KIA ...... hope they have kept the back to real, with pick up for real work, rather than SUV. Somthing that the farming community can get value from.
I had one of these for shooting trips.. cheap & no nonsence & great offroad , but like a tractor on road lol. Good lil workhorse. So Chevy make these now? well should I say lend thier badge to them. Are Chevrolet that desperate to expand outside the US that they have to buy up budget car firms & churn out tat with thier name on it ? Just look at Daewoo who failed in the UK but suddenly came back with same crap cars with a chevy badge ? The mind boggles.
One of the all-time great cars, but certainly not the first SUV ! the Willys Jeep Wagon was around in the late 1940's, and the Jeep Wagoneer, the Ford Bronco, the Toyota Land Cruiser Wagon were all created in the 1960's, the Range Rover was launched in 1970, etc... Anyway, whether it was first or not, the Niva is still one of the great ones ! too bad its safety and emissions technology have not kept up and it can no longer be sold in my country.
i wonder will it be better with the diesel engine, cause it (might) have more torque, but i dont know how many torque@rpm does that fiat engine have lolz
@MegaZsolti the Niva is now build with a Chevrolet engine. The 1,7l version has 133Nm at 3500 rpm. A diesel engine would be much better. But the gearebox compensate the low torque of the engine.
Please don't call it a SUV it is a real off-road vehicle. The daily use of SUVs is largely on paved roads and in urban areas, most of them do not have high gearing and four-wheel-drive low gearing and differential lock.

He tenido dos vehículos RUSOS. El primero fué un UAZ modelo 86, color caqui y carpado. Excelente vehículo. Lamento haber tenido que venderlo hace años.
El segundo, lo compré hace más de dos años. NIVA 2121 modelo 94. 100% RUSO.
Ni lujoso ni veloz... ¡pero es el mejor campero del mundo!.

I'm gonna get one someday, I like the way it looks, kind of friendly, and nothing (except rust) can destroy it! In Corsica there where plenty of them in my childhood a few years back. It's an awesome car...
I've never seen a LWB though. And the new niva doesn't look quite as good as THE Niva.

I like Nivas...but the first SUV is the Range Rover, from 1971.

before I had 10 years offroad experience with a landrover defender and the two are very much alike.
