This is great! I wish we still had this. Too bad everyone has to be afraid to enjoy great stuff. I could not stop laughing at these funny negroes dancing around
I never could figure out why none of the women didn't put on blackface. Seems like it's only the guys doing the minstrel shows. Was there ever a female minstrel performer?
LOL The internet the last refuge for the cowardly American racist. You blokes are what is wrong with your country and you make us ashamed of being White.
isnt it nice to see black and white people dancing together.....singing confederate songs and having a jolly old time ....i have a dream.............................
Back in 1969 I was guest at POW Theatre in London to see the B & W Minsterls Show. On later reading a newspaper the show was also on in other parts of England. As long as one of the TV B&W stars were appearing they could claim it was the TV B&W M Show. Did not detract as it was very good. During the interval I popped upstairs where an army of ladies were pressing the costumes for the next day's performance.
You know if idiots like you actually pulled your retarded heads out of your retarded assholes and looked a bit outside the PATHETIC little square you live in, then you might get an inkling of what the show was about. Fine entertainment, beautifully sung and superbly performed, a very happy part of my childhood television memories. Its dickheads like you and your bullshit PC opinions that finally got the show canned. Long live the B&W Minstrels and thanks for sharing this. AWESOME!!
I think this was Beet1e's favorite show growing up, enjoying it as he ate iceberg lettuce, right prior to the global warming scam that began 20 years later.
Well, I also agree with that opinion! and much better & funnier than the revolting, sorry and sad stuff we have to put up with on TV today. Pity the BBC can't bring it out on DVD 'cause the P.C. would 'ave 'em for it.
p.s. i wouldn't go as far as saying this should b made the solution 4 gun&knife crime... as a younga myself i think this kind of ignorance only has the potential 2 anger us 'youths' more... rap ain't the most powerful or intellectual form of entertainment admitedly but in my opinion this... this is neitha intellectual or entertaining. at least certainly not suitable 4 this decade.
The history behind is actually pretty bad..and early minstrelsy was far more different than the later on minstrelsy which is where the more pernicious stereotypes of black people have become mainstream. the stereotypes are just unfortunately so entertwined in our lifetime that most people don't even know where they come from anymore and that they're innaccurate. So you really shouldn't be so disrespectful.
The White Minstrel Show. Infact they couldn't be whiter.....

The Black and White Minstrels only went off the air when colour television came along and they couldn't call themselves the Coloured Minstrels.

Yes there was a Music Hall blackface performer called May Henderson. She was very popular in her day.

I had the same experience. It was the most hateful hour of TV ever. All the old uns loved it but for me it was profoundly tedious.

And here I am, merely 19, watching it by choice.
Funny how that works.
