@jopoon52 Anyway, I watched this dramma when i was a kid and all i can remember the story is: they met because both of them could not buy tickets for an opera; then they only attended in the backstage; they fell in love and got married; and started their own restaurant/canteen. That's all i can remember.

@lcbkoster... The version you watched might not be the original version produced in 1971,it might have been an improved version after 80's. TV series is kept evolving, new element is added each time the series replayed, the story is adapted to fit the taste of public, then, like new wine in new bottle but same brand. With new technology, a son can act in the same movie as the father in roles of twine in same age... interesting.

@jopoon52 What I have mentioned must be the 1971's version. Because, I had seen it from a black and white tv, the first family tv my father bought with a lockable flip-door. My mother locked it all the times avoiding me from not doing my homeworks.

TVB had rebroadcast the series in its 20 or 30's Anniversary, but I miss the chance. What a pity!

Anyway, it's interesting to know there is an improved version. Are there any chance that TVB will show the series again?

Honestly, the success of this series is 盧國雄, Jenny and the translation team. Their creative translation contributed sweet feeling and rich context to the story. There were no script, only combining some shootings here and there, yet the story was compiled on he fly, highly swift and effective production of Japanese approach. We definitely have some very smart people in the 70s from both Japan and Hong Kong. I hope HK today shall treasure this experience and contniue the success.

二人世界 was good but I personally like 佳偶天成(or 三人家族) more. In fact 佳偶天成 was shown in TVB before 二人世界. 竹脇無我 and 栗原小卷came across in many occasions but they didn't know each other till the end of the story of 佳偶天成. 竹脇無我's younger brother and 栗原小卷's younger sister were friends. 竹脇無我 and 栗原小卷finally know each other because of their brother/sister reason.

You are right 佳偶天成's story content is richer, while 二人世界 is ad hoc, and limited by resource, yet the most cost effective production, however the techology is profound, such technology eventually progress to animation that we have today.

The drama was produced by 木下恵介 1971 August, a team of Japanese production came to HK, at time of ping-pong diplomacy, TVB & SB were very excited about it, a team of animation & sound experts was gathered in short notice to assist the Japanese initiative, under the leadership of 木下恵介, we snapped more than 50shots a day and create a convincable story, we built the series a chapter a time, the voice team beautified the sound effect ... A Love Story was born - Yes, Japanese Way is always First Class

The answer is timing of ping-pong diplomacy, Japan asked by US to link up with China to unwind Vietnam War.

Knowing Chairman Mao loved to watch movie, Mr. 木下恵介 came to HK to seek help from TVB and SB to produce a mini series, a love story,

to set a tone for President Nixon to meet the Chairman. The Chairman enjoyed the production.

Result.China normalised relation with Japan, 1973, followed by US 1979.

it is like a drama within a drama, history making

This series, mostly likely, had not been broadcast in China, whereas "佳偶天成" and "柔道龍虎榜" had been broadcast in 80's. That's why these 2 can been found in PRC websites, but not 二人世界.

Many thanks for the episodes. I do remember 竹脇無我 as well as 栗原小卷 but these names have not been called into my mind for decades. 二人世界 does sound very familiar, I don't think I did watch before. I hope in the near future, TVB will show this again. It is not only the people we miss but those social or moral values, family and social relationship. I don't think it was first shown in HK in 1975. It must be earlier than that as I was still a child and not yet a teenager when it was shown. I am pretty sure it wasn't 1975. More like 1971 .
