  • check out Atlas City and The Venus Project for similar ideas for cities.

  • The builder did not provide any real facts to show his claims of being a green builder. He mentioned certifications. Certification are good for making us feel we deal with credible companies but they do not mean we are dealing with efficient builders who care to protect our planet. I would like to see proof of green construction practices. Certifications can be paid for, but you have to walk the talk. If you do, it would be good to show us your company is more than a cash grab.

  • can't you be sued for calling yourself totally self suffiecent green? Looks more like an incredibly large amount of outside resourses built this. Totally self suffiecent means a closed system - I doubt they grow any of the food necessary to be self suffiecent. Completely green means they created a new habitat for the displaced ecosystem. I hate the stupid use of meaningless trendy words by people who don't know what they mean.

    Completely green = zero impact.

  • Actually we do have all utilities in. That includes gas & electrical, phone and cable, and water is to every lot supplied by well water that can pump 2,000,000 gallons per year with storage on site of 35,000 gallons. Also we capture rain water and us it to irrigate crops.

  • He's talking about the Amish, not Green Acres.

  • Yeah, and they also don't have electricity or running water...

  • What about the Amish? They have been self-sufficient and green for ages ;).
