@GuItArRiCk33 why assume that you cant plug a control pad into a PC? the choice is there but most PC gamers prefer mouse and keyboard, nothing stoping anyone from using a control pad, i use a saitek cordless bluetooth dual analogue controller with rubber grips ( realy nice quality ) for emulators and driving games.

@IndieGameDesigner Even assuming that game designers are ready to create photo realistic enviorments on PC, nobody is going to buy the PCs required to play them. Consoles are popular mostly because they are affordable. I bought a pretty good gaming computer in 2008 for $500, and now I can't play the newest games anymore. However, my console that I bought in 2007 plays 2012 games no problem.
It's not all consolers are ignorant pricks, it's not everybody can afford expensive PCs every few years.

I'm the director of a fledgling indie company. We have decided to ignore consoles completely and only target PC's (Windows\Mac\Linux). Over the past 5 years me and my business partner have witnessed the slow dumbing down of ALL games because of consoles. The fact is PC gamers are being hurt by shitty console ports and the lack of intelligence from console gamers. Proof, Duke Nukem Forever and RAGE are very very poor AAA games, they should have been 10x better on PC. consoles can go to hell.

@wallaberto we havent chosen a company name yet. it only takes a few weeks to actually create a company with a bank account, thats the easy part. At the moment all the IP is my personal property as a sole trader and it all needs to be transfered to a LTD so I cant be sued personally if things go wrong. Working out my legal responsibilities is the hard part and solicitors work very slowly :(

@Charliem1016 I've just watched a video of your Yogscast game. Good luck with it. One game that springs to my mind is the PC version of Turok 2008. Turok was an amazing franchise that literally destroyed its own reputation by limiting itself to nextgen console hardware. I'm not interested in mainstream gaming, our games will target PC gamers and will require a functioning brain to play. Go to the steam forums and read. PC gamers are crying out for good quality games.

@IndieGameDesigner Partially consoles, but I think the biggest dumbing down is because of mobile gaming, where people play a game for 5 minutes then quit. This just encourages "games" like Angry Birds, and because they sell well, people are skipping making good games and instead making time wasters like that. It's pathetic, but between the big companies only putting out "safe" sequels and the rise of "casual gaming", I doubt we will see many great games in the future.

@pufixas it really doesnt cost that much to be able to upgrade a pc to get better graphics than PS3 or a 360. its not just textures, its anti aliasing, which you get up to 8x and the resolution i have is 1980x1200 which is almost twice as good as HD, its epic you can see everything (im talkin about if you have an iron sight and you need to shoot someone 400m away)

So processor wise PS3 can compare I guesse, but not graphics wise no.
The latest GPU for PC is 5x better than PS3 GPU. You can fit 4 of them in a PC. That's 20x better Graphics Processing than PS3. Don't even let me get to CPU, RAM and the rest of it..

Your latest GPU, which im guessing is the 6950 or 6970, is $300+. Now you have to buy a i7, the cheapest i know of is still nearly $300. Memory? Another $100. PSU? another $150.
We didnt even get into monitor, keyboard/mouse, case, HDD, BlueRay...

Currently a 6950 outputs about 1600millin triangles, max, best case about 1200. The ps3 on average is about 700million, range of 350-1.1

I'm the director of a fledgling indie company. We have decided to ignore consoles completely and only target PC's (Windows\Mac\Linux). Over the past 5 years me and my business partner have witnessed the slow dumbing down of ALL games because of consoles. The fact is PC gamers are being hurt by shitty console ports and the lack of intelligence from console gamers. Proof, Duke Nukem Forever and RAGE are very very poor AAA games, they should have been 10x better on PC. consoles can go to hell.

@wallaberto we havent chosen a company name yet. it only takes a few weeks to actually create a company with a bank account, thats the easy part. At the moment all the IP is my personal property as a sole trader and it all needs to be transfered to a LTD so I cant be sued personally if things go wrong. Working out my legal responsibilities is the hard part and solicitors work very slowly :(

Turok was an amazing franchise that literally destroyed its own reputation by limiting itself to nextgen console hardware. I'm not interested in mainstream gaming, our games will target PC gamers and will require a functioning brain to play. Go to the steam forums and read. PC gamers are crying out for good quality games.

@IndieGameDesigner Partially consoles, but I think the biggest dumbing down is because of mobile gaming, where people play a game for 5 minutes then quit. This just encourages "games" like Angry Birds, and because they sell well, people are skipping making good games and instead making time wasters like that. It's pathetic, but between the big companies only putting out "safe" sequels and the rise of "casual gaming", I doubt we will see many great games in the future.

@pufixas it really doesnt cost that much to be able to upgrade a pc to get better graphics than PS3 or a 360. its not just textures, its anti aliasing, which you get up to 8x and the resolution i have is 1980x1200 which is almost twice as good as HD, its epic you can see everything (im talkin about if you have an iron sight and you need to shoot someone 400m away)

@DCDigitalStudios lol, i cant believe you're actually comparing PS3 to PC. PC is far more superior. Why do they downgrade graphics on crysis for PS3? This is just fact. And as for processor, you are still wrong. PS3 is clocked to 3.2Ghz and a PC can get up to 4Ghz (probably more since i last checked). So processor wise PS3 can compare I guesse, but not graphics wise no.

Your latest GPU, which im guessing is the 6950 or 6970, is $300+. Now you have to buy a i7, the cheapest i know of is still nearly $300. Memory? Another $100. PSU? another $150.
We didnt even get into monitor, keyboard/mouse, case, HDD, BlueRay...

Currently a 6950 outputs about 1600millin triangles, max, best case about 1200. The ps3 on average is about 700million, range of 350-1.1

Yours has a 550 MHz process, ours a 772 MHz process. Yours has 256 MB of GDDR3 RAM at 700 MHz, compared to our 1536/3072 MBs of GDDR5 RAM at 4008 MHz. Yours a 128-bit bus, ours a 384-bit bus. And while your bandwidth is 22.4 GB/s, ours is 192.4 GB/s.

Are you so threatened by a console, that you are spouting facts off a $500-700 video card? That NO PC GAME is even built for?
And a small note on your bandwith, your pcie interface limits the i/o from the pc to the video card to 6.4GB...while the rsx has a bus i/o of 20read/15write to the cell and memory.

@LewisSerex More realistically, it isn't as easy as to multiply the number of processing units by how many times better (than the ps3 one) it is :P It's not like using two cards in SLI/Xfire makes the graphics processing two times faster/better.
Although it is vastly improved...

@LewisSerex you wont get 4x better because quad-gpu doesnt work that way... it will only be boosted by like 200-250% which is 2x 2.5x more and the ps3 is 8 years old yes, you heard me you are comparing something thats 10 days old with something thats 8 years old... aint it strange how the ps3 is still in the lead... o_O and let us see how you have this so called '' latest gpu'' cuz im sure you dont even have a pc you can install crysis on xD and this is coming from a ps3 fanboy with amazing PCs

@LewisSerex That's why I hooked my pc to my 360 and created a file overlap so that games created and run go through the pc instead of 360 for better ping time and graphics.

@LewisSerex There's no doubt that there is better hardware than the playstation, but you can't quite compare them since the ps3 doesn't need a good GPU because of it's Cell processor which is very effective at floatingpoint calculations.

@LewisSerex Because you have no clue about it. The ps3 uses a CPU with far more potential than your welfare computer. It's a 3.2 GHZ 8-core RISC processor, I know you didn't know that, still no need to say thank you.
Poor thing is, even next-gen consoles will have slower hardware than a todays higher-end gaming pc.
