  • @ptegegn1

Actually the Normans have some scandinavien roots too, because some viking took land there, but integrated after a few centuries.

  • ha ha it was so weird this guy was talking so fast like what the heck was he saying but i knew lol lol i am totally gonna watch more

  • @xxcandiiesz27xx i know, you should really watch more. K

  • And since french and Skandinavian ( Dannish - swedish - Norwegians ) did plunder , steal , and rape over there , and you guys claim to have made America , It should be ours as well ! hahah xD

  • 1066 where normans under the french crown, france conquered you, you never did whith them

  • 1:57 and that is what england still is today

  • The Normans figured out how to use arrows properly...

  • I'm a red-head but 100% Sicilian because the Normans took it over under Roger Guiscard

  • England is still vikings...

first came the "wrath of the norsemens" (Danish vikings) then came the "Normans" (Danish vikings)

i'm sorry but we never left you :P

  • @CrappyPictures The vikings are long gone due to being slaughtered and assimilated.

  • The Normans were also originally Vikings.

  • the problem with humans , they take anything they own or they don't own even if it cost them much blood !

  • I decided to listen English to train it.

I decided to learn history while improving English.

Bad idea, he's speaking too fast :(

  • @ssPARTIZAN you are from Serbia?

  • @argentotenebre

    No, Bulgaria.

  • I'm part Scandinavian. :)

  • just the smallest jokes are the funniest. like: he's called harold, 'cos that's his name, jilarious

  • I love them all!

  • OK, I was confused about what the water fountain was doing there in the corner until 2:01. Then I understood.

  • Most of these are hilarious!

  • It's almost like the Mongolian empire invaded and took over china

  • I played battle on medieval 2 total war when harold gets shot in the eye :D

  • YOU REALLY MADE ME LAUGH.

    I mean DAAAAMMNNN!!!!!!!!

I was born In el Salvador but im part Scandinavian, cause my grandpa is a Ginger from some part of Europe i cant remember....

  • @TheCaptainjuicy

I think ginger is more a celtic trait than a north germanic (scandinavian) one. My mom had red hair until she was like 17 years old. Weird...

  • Loads of Monty Python has trained me to find English humor funny, hurray! P.S. Sorry our president treats your country like shit.

  • Very funny and really informative!

  • Horrible Histories are Hilarious Histories.

  • This makes more sense now, thank you! Everybody has got a little bit of Viking in them because... come on those guys got around.

  • let's call him...... because thats his name should be a meme

  • Let's call him Bob Hale because that's his name

  • Man I wish bbc news was like this.

  • @MrSuperkarl2795

The first part is myth, the second part is not historically accurate and the final part is due to the high level of discipline AND insane fanatism (something also seen in Mujaheddin and Al Qaeda insurgents, fighting against impossible odds).

The Mongols under Djinghis Khan were one of the most feared warriors ever and they conquered enormous amounts of territory (several times larger than what the Vikings managed) and they weren't blonde or blue eyed.

  • "Let's call it the Battle of Hastings, because that's what it's called."

  • @MrStaxxy, no they were much more nastier than the French, they had different architecture, social system and spoke frankish with a Norse accent, they even wore different clothes. They tried to keep distinguishable from the French. Believe me, I have studied the events of 1066 in great detail.

  • If bob's sketches got cut out of the show, I think I'd stop watching HH :)

  • battle in hastings lets call it the battle of hasting because thats whats its called

  • this is awsome

  • @KeepSonic so do i so do i .....

  • lets call it hte battle of hasting because that's what it was !! XD :)

  • I love Bob hale

  • Horrible history is the best ever

  • Please do not reply to my top comment. I have had numerous criticisms and counterclaims against the statement I put up there 10 months ago.

They were descended from Norse Viking conquerors, so I'm standing by my statement, you won't change my mind, and if you have a problem with that, go and a good history book or Wikipedia.

Now lets all just enjoy the video, thank you.

  • This was my exam revision. And i did well.

  • just don't go outside... hahaha :D

  • id say that horrible histries is very educational aswell as 'FUN', its good!!!!

  • TEAM VIKINGS!

  • one of the best series ever

  • This is Thrand!!!

Awesome Comedy video with some history :P

  • Let's call him ____ 'cause that's his name!!! ;D

  • 4 PEOPLE ARE SAXONS

  • bob hail.

he did the rise of rome... in 2 mins

  • Actually Wales fought off Saxons when they invaded a long time ago, so a small proportion in Wales was actually Celtic and not Saxon. Also the Welsh fought off the Normans in the North and worked with Scotland to finally take it all back.

  • Bob Hale wins the Internet!!!!

  • I love how he just pauses and goes "... but not for long!"

  • Ironic how King Harold had a Norwegian name, isn't it.

  • @hakkematforf Maybe not, at the time English and the other germanic languages were alot more alike than they are today.

  • @kokofan50 yes, but Harold is still Norwegian and means army ruler

  • It's rather well explained: following the blood lines it was always Vikings fighting Vikings. Hadrada was a 'real' Viking, Harold had Viking blood running through his veins and the name 'Normans' came from Nordmannen: Vikings who run amoc in the region of Rouen and threatened Paris. They were given control of Northwestern France by king Charles the Straightforward (Carolus Simplex). And that's also the reason why so many 'men from the North' claimed the English throne.

  • but not for long..lol

  • Or so we thought, here come those vikings again LOL!!!!

  • Is it just me or does the picture of Harold look like Justin Lee Collins? O_O

  • "lets call him harold because that was his name" LOL

  • ... But not for long! LOL

  • 'splashes himself in the face' Back to you sam. lol

  • vikings are just so awesome

  • yes... good my children... good... fight...

  • ....but not for long!

  • So the Vikings ruled anyway.

  • Lets call him Canute because thats his name XD

  • 'Harold gets shot in the eye and then cut into pieces, not a great day, poor lad.'

    XDDDDDDDD

  • ........................BUT NOT FOR LONG

  • So what about Scotland? did the vikings rule them?

  • very informative

  • Lol

Lots of axes, just don't go outside!

  • But they just take his money and invade, anyway! Those Vikings!

  • he have to read an a lections in univesity

  • I love this guy.

  • Normandy was given to the Vikings by the French. So yeah in a way the Normans are viking, though original population probably didn't disappear so a small viking ruling class and a large french as someone else said

  • @Spartiatai300 Not really, as the vikings rape and pillage Normandy for a long time, so many french people die. And then the vikings (mostly danes) settles. Of course there are still a decent amount of original french people left, put they kinda go together with the vikings into some wierd salat. Oh yeah and William had a lot of viking blood in him.

  • Is it just me - or does that pic of HAROLD look like JUSTIN LEE COLLINS?

  • Perhaps the Normans are called Normans.. because they come from NORMANdy...

  • XDDDD......

  • News??? Lol thats really old so how can it be news!! XD

  • Not a great day, poor lad

    lol you think xD

  • Hmmm. Why are there Saxons all over Wales in the 8th Century?

  • It's pretty impressive that he was able to do it that fast.

  • you would think that when your at school you would rather listeb to ur fav celeb then listen to history, yet this makes it alot more exciting and now my whole class begs the teacher to out it on now!! lol

  • Norman means man from the north or nordman as we say in scandinavia

  • ROFL! Historically accurate, yet hilarious!

  • The negro and camel jock fronts are invading now and nobody is doing anything about it because they're afraid of being called "racist",,lol,,big difference in attitude as compared to folks who fought for what was right long ago.

  • Let me settle the record!

    1. The viking part of the Normans were only partially left in their blood line of the Norman nobles, affter successfully assimilation into the local lords. The rest were locals of the land, not northmen.

    ~Norseman

  • @petkol The same can be said about danes. Danes were, and still is germanic anglo saxons. Vikings from Scandinavia settled in Denmark, but some of the danish vikings later on were probably locals. But the danish vikings managed to change the language in Norway and Sweden from icelandic to what it is today. Damn those germanic danes he he

  • @bbajas Dude, Denmark is in scandinavia!

  • @hesteaeble Yes that is true, but the first recorded viking raids in UK were not from socalled vikings from Denmark, vikings from Denmark showed up in UK over 100 years after the first recorded raids. The typical danish dna and bloodline is germanic anglo-saxon. I recommand The BBC documetary "blood of the vikings".

  • @hesteaeble NO asshole its been transported to africa go fuck ur mom

  • well you tend to call people by their names

  • What about Scotland?

  • @ViccardXViccc, The early Scots were called 'Picts' by the Romans ('Picti' is a Roman Latin word meaning 'Painted people' in reference to the fact that the Scots wore blue woad tattoos in battle)

The Vikings never conqured Scotland, but they frequently tried many times but they were always slaughtered viciously by the Scots, some Vikings that were left just gave up and settled in and eventually died out due to not enough Vikings left to conqure Scotland

  • @GLORD99092 Ah, thanks. You know, the second attack of the vikings in England was a disaster too: More than half of them were killed and the leader was send back to Denmark...In pieces.

  • @GLORD99092 Offcourse Norse conquered Scotland: Inner Hebrides; Outher Hebrides; County of Caithness; Sutherland; Iverness, aswell as Orkney and Shetland before the Danes sold it away in 15th century. The Norse males took Scottish wives from the norht and west, which was exclusivly prevelant in their regions due to the lack of woman from home. This gave these people the names: Norse-Gaels.

From the first raid on Iona Monastery in 794 - 1471 when the Danes sold of Norwegian's Norðr to Scots..

  • haha, I see that has already been mentioned ten times just on this page

  • the best things is that those Normands (from the word nordman) where ancestors of Vikings themselves! VIKINGS>saxes :D

  • @GriffinZabaton stop u propaganda Normands was not Vikings or from Scandinavia, I'm tired to see this on youtube.

the Normand invasion ruled England during almost 300 years, and the official language of England between 1066 until 1362 was French. that's why even today, 34% of English words come from French. the most of Normands was celt from France. a few vikings stay in this region and they forgot their culture or language and have adopted the local culture.

  • @burtoncaly Norman French was very different to French French.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHA

  • and the battle of hastings wasn't in hastings. it was 9miles away in the town of battle. weird :/

  • erm... at that time in wales majority of the population was celtic. not saxon. sry

  • so much win

  • oh my god thats so funny

  • Normans are Vikings as well! xD Scandinavian Vikings and Norman Vikings (Scandinavian-Viking settlers) Should have allied :O

  • What they didn't tell you is that the Normans were really Viking settlers!

  • @seahawk124 Normans was French not Vikings, an extremely few part of Normas come from the Scandinavian immigration.

  • @burtoncaly

Sorry, but the Normans were the people who gave their name to the land Normandy. They were descended from Viking conquerors of the territory and the native population of mostly Frankish and Gallo-Roman stock. They had only settle in France for a couple of hundred years, before they conquered England. The name "Normans" derives from Nortmanni (Northmen), after the Vikings who founded Normandy. Normans were no more as French as the Welsh are being English.

  • @burtoncaly

    Norman = Northmen.

  • @seahawk124 Normans are Vikings who went down south and got soft.

  • @seahawk124 normans were made of the vikings who conquered france thts why called normans meaing northmen FUCK FRANCE

  • @777myname777

Pretty sure it had something to do with the fact they convinced (tricked) the French crown into giving them the Duchy of Normandy.

  • @Cotronia tricked?? thats another chapter its a debate?? now see i came up with 2 more alfred the great never eixsted it was that spaniard el cid in his place and the facts are twisted so west saxons under a spanish??...lol

  • @seahawk124 they were Norwegian and the word Norman comes from the word "Normen" wich means Norwegians

  • @seahawk124 yh norman = north man

  • @seahawk124 Why did this get 34 thumbs up? Of all the things this didn't tell you you just said something really silly. Normans weren't bloody Vikings. Their nobility was descended from Viking nobility, sure, but Normans felt them selves much more related to the somewhat civilized Saxons than to the hairy Northern barbarians.

    This was fuckin awesome though.

  • @seahawk124 yeah, i dont see how vikings and descendants of vikings can exist in the same time, and the descendants not be vikings

  • @ZombifiedGod The Normans adopted the French language and culture and converted to Christianity which resulted in a move away from raiding.

  • @bhelwerg1 so, vikings and normans did exist in the same time, even though normans were the descendants of vikings.

  • @seahawk124 They were french for generations before 1066. They didn't bring any "vikingness" to England, they brought "frenchiness",that's why most of the basic English vocabulary is formed from french words and and why all of the nobles had french names and spoke french.

  • @seahawk124 actaully they were German tribe settlers which were not Vikings. Denmark Norway and Finland were Vikings

  • @MrMeineNamen Don't forget sweden. man what happened to us i still wanna be a viking

  • @BasicSoul666 lol yes not to mention sweden but viking was just an overall religion for war ;)

  • @seahawk124 Most of england is of Viking decent. That or Picts and Scots. Interesting fact: The English are more closely related to the Frisians (tribe from northern Germany) than they are to the Welsh.

  • @seahawk124 Normans is the Scandinavian word for some one who come from Norway. It's written Nordmand and since the "D"s aren't prenounced, people from Nordmandy are called Normen.

  • @seahawk124

Normans were not viking anymore, after 50 years since they settlements, they were indistiguishable from french.

  • jak is a norman viking ginger scum bag

  • Bob:"So in Summary: Lot's of nasty men, big axes, just don't go outside!!!"

*Splashes water all over his face*

    "Back to you, Sam"

    Sam: ...

  • You forgot the part where the king no longer rules and the Politicians invite the Muslims instead, letting them invade from within. Slowly killing the Native Brittish.

  • "and harold gets shot in the eye! and then cut into little pieces. not a great day, poor lad." hahaha makes me crack up every time :')

  • Lets' call him canute because that's his name XD

  • Bob doesn't sound as energetic as usual

  • LOL, I WANT THAT GUY TO BE MY HISTORY TEACHER!!! :)

  • did you know that Dublin and swansay was named after the Danish king

  • @dim432 Dubh Linn was the celtic name, but it was too hard for norwegian vikings to say, so it became Dublin

  • Comment removed
