This song at the end of the movie ...

  • this song is simply a CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!! moi <3 Paul Young. I can never be tired of listening this song.

  • Awesome just awesome. Also type in HALL & OATES - EVERYTIME YOU GO AWAY ( live) they have the original and the temptations for back up vocals just awesome. Just geniuses.

  • Great song for a great movie. However, it's not the original. The original was written by Daryl Hall from (Hall & Oates). I know there's another one too, from a group called The Mondays or The Blue Mondays. Something of that sort. This one is probably my favorite though.

  • Hall & Oates version is very good... but to be honest.. I can't decide which version I prefer... this or theirs.. both are great.

  • I can just see John Candy's teddy bear smile at the end of PTAA everytime I hear this song. One of my favorite movies and songs ever!

  • PLANES , TRAINS, AND AUTOMOBILES.

  • @chazchazfbi Yeah felt sorry for John Candy. He kept smiling and seemed so Jolly but he was really sad deep inside since he had no home and his wife has been dead for 8 years.

  • Memories!

  • I'll never tire of hearing this song. Such a classic and what a voice!

  • One of the greatest songs and performed well by Paul Young. I will always love this song.

  • This is one of the greatest songs and performed well by Paul Young. I will always love this song!

  • One of my all time favorite songs, I have been listening to it since my high school years! I just keep listening it...

  • Still gives me chills years later.....For that Canadian boy. BG

  • actually this song was written in 1979/1980 as it originally appeared on Hall & Oates's voices album and only became a hit for Mr Young 5 years later in 1985 personally I love both versions of this song

  • This was a American Top 100's no.1 for him way back in 1985. And boy, the 80's really rocks!!!

  • Oh, yes, a song written by Daryl Hall & John Oates in 1985-- nice, very nice.

  • I would dare say...the mid 80s pop tunes were probably the best musically, in music. This song takes me back to freshman year in HS, what memories...all good. What happened? I can't turn on the radio nowadays, it is unbelieveable JUNK. Thanks to the internet I can still reminesce of the "good old days"!

  • Agreed! Though I grew up in the 90s I love 80s song. There is so much emotion in those songs. All the power ballads and the drums. Wow! and true so much junk in radio today.

  • great song from a great artist and still one of the most listen to today

  • One of my favorite songs of all time!!

I remember when I was a teen and my family was in the car with the radio on. This song came on, and my dad said, "You take a piece of MEAT with you??" Us kids just laughed and laughed. lol

  • One of my favorite songs I can listen this song over and over ...

  • Definitely ..Brings back many memories from that time. I miss the 80s a lot!!!

  • Everytime I hear this song I think of John Candy and the ending scene in Planes Trains And Automobiles, a scene that has always been so powerful to me. This really brings me home again. Thank you so much!!

  • Agreed. Very sad but PT&A is the best comedy made. RIP legend!

  • I agree 100% my friend!

  • He knew how to sing...

  • When this song came out I though Paul young was soooo dreamy.

    Nearly 25 years later....

I still think he is dreamy.

  • Yeah, I guess every lucky guy has felt the same way...no offense girls, I just can't speak for you. I say "lucky" because we were honored with a girl's love to begin with...that's actually a rather difficult feat to accomplish sometimes...

  • I personally think it was a wonderful hairdo then and better than some of them now but I'm old so ......

  • He sung this song with so much emotion in every note! Bad ass white boy!

  • LUV!!!!! his painted on jeans!!!!!!!

  • claro que por supuesto que desde luego que super yes saludos de mexiquito

  • wow! i love the energy in this song.. "everytiime you goo awaay, you take a piece of mee with youuu". Wow! he truely is a Pisces.

  • Can anyone believe that hair used to be in style? Makes you think about your "do" now.

  • wy not i have my hair just poul young now and i have very friends and girls

  • Trains, Planes, and Automobiles

  • SUPERBE chanson

  • I just read John Hughes died and had to listen to this again for some reason (Planes, Trains and Automobiles?)

    Such a great song.

  • great song...

  • Besides the hooky melody and great arrangment this song has 2 key elements that wold kill it if missing:

1; The awesome bass line!! Pop songs rarely have a defining bass line. Pino Paladino!

    2. electric sitar guitar hook lines.

Those 2 things combined with the rest =a freash hit!!

  • I love this song by Paul Young. When it was out in the 80's, my son was then 4 years old. He also loved the song but would sing - "Every time you go away, you take a piece of MEAT with you!" I can't help but laugh every time I hear it now! Such a fun memory!

  • that's what the leper said to his gf

  • Paul did such a wonderful job with this song. Thank You.

  • i still give daryl hall credit for creating a relaxing, to me, and good song

  • as much as i'm a fan of hall and oates, this guy kinda made the song better sounding, in my opinion

  • Darrlyl Hall Wrote this song and he won't let anyone forget it!

  • it's a really soothing song

  • where are you paul?

  • Trains, Planes and Automobiles ends with this song...and it is so heartrending as John Candy is no longer with us. SWEET song. My darling son would dance to this when he was very young!

  • to you paula, from me

  • When I hear this song, I just start crying my eyes out!!! He sings the hell out of this song!!! OMG what a great song!!!

  • You are correct!! You have to move on... No Matter what...

  • 80's - the decade of "real" music............

  • Agreed. No music will outmatch the 80's. I work in the music business, and i listen to all music everyday and 80's is by far my all time favorite.

  • Cheer up, everybody!

  • This song just destroys me, I had a woman who l love to no end, we are good friends, and we hang out, & try not to let our feelings destroy our friendship. I tell & show her how much I feel her, & l know she feel's me just as much. And when the day come's to & end, and she leave's me, l die. She literaly take"s a piece of me every time...every time she goe's away. l would lay my life down for her, without question, without regret. I'm no youngster, l know what l speak. l love her to the core.

  • I really understand. I Loved someone who loved me, but he died.. It Hurt so much.. Please try to rememember they will be in you heart, and forever ..maybe you will see them some day...

  • I know, but it just seem's unreachable at the momment. The pain that one feel's when they have lost that one, the one you just know. The pain is the worst kind of pain a person can bare. Beacuse there's is nothing you can do about it, except to suffer thru it. Day in & day out. Physical pain l can take, but this kind of pain just make you want to end it....u be good WooWooy.

  • And hope that your pain sbsides in time....in time.

  • I have already surrendered a part of myself to you that I know is yours forever and when we are apart I feel so empty....if only....

  • So.....will I see you today? Or are you going away again for awhile. ILU4E

  • I agree, I had someone who felt the same way about me; and told his friend!! Love the song, and he died...I will never forget...

  • this song, is the song my boyfriend told me that reminded him of me, things are over between me and him, but every time i hear this song i cry my eyes out, he was in 8th grade and i was in 7th grade, and he told me that he listened to this song like 70billion times a day after graduation, first guy that has ever had soooo maany feelings for me, ill never forget him:(

  • cute!

  • One of Pino Palladino's early and best known basswork. :)

  • This song is a great memory. And definitely a memory of the 80's for sure.

  • This song (even though there's no specific heartbreak connected with it ) always brings a tear to my eye. Maybe I'm mourning my lost youth.

  • This performance with Paul Young never gets old. He does it better than anyone.

  • I love this song.

    He sings very

    (♥

  • Everyone was original in the 80's unlike today.

  • trains, planes, automobiles , , ,

  • awesome !!!!!

  • wonderful

  • I miss my baby!!!!!!!!!!

  • for ever only 80's in my life

  • i love this song!!!!

  • Everytime you go away....You take a piece of sheet? Cleat? Feet? With you?

  • "Me."

  • duh lol

  • You take a piece of me with you!

  • No, actually this was originally a tune penned by the famous butcher/singer/songwriter JM Schneider.

"Everytime you go away, you take a piece of meat with you." Yep, poor old JM Schneider wept a little everytime he heard his song after its original recording was made on cylinders at the onset of recorded music.

  • Paul Young has done a fantastic job of discovering/covering/rerecording this gem of a tune in his own style as you've heard here, many decades after the original was made. Even though the the chorus is probably not exactly what he (JM) had in mind at first, it's close enough. ;)

  • What an awesome song about missing someone

  • Legitima Musica dos anos 80...

    Wonderful Simple...

  • @GREMISTA2009 Eso es. Tan hermosa después de todo este año .. Inolvidable.

  • I envy you : )

  • Brings back memories from '85.......this song came back when i was 12

  • Magical :)

  • Awesome song along with I'm Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down. The piano and the bassline goes together and you feel the emotion. I sense the similar style of lyrics that Hall and Oates would do. I didn't know Hall and Oates had wrote this song

  • they did and their version is very good too

  • this is such a beautiful simple love song!! ♥

  • Ha ha . I nearly wrote that until I saw your post. It's one of the best misheard song lyrics. Like Thirty theives and the thunder cheifs.

  • Can't stop laughing!!!! That's just so.......inappropriately BAD!!!! I'm cracking up.

  • i love this song i always smile because my brothers name is paul young

  • Remember going back to Denver from Boulder in the 80's was cold, sad and I love you.

  • The baseline is dope.

  • That's Pino Palladino, one of the best out there. If you're a bass player you should check out his stuff and technique.

  • J'adooorreeee et depuis longtemps...

  • I like it alot sweetheart. I'm sorry I couldn't spend the night with you, but I have to get some stuff in order, but trust me, it was well worth the drive, just for you. Maybe one day soon you can leave me some comments, after they catch the morbidly obese ballerina I've been telling you about lol..Thanks for kissing towd's finger. It feels much better. 8.5 out cya soon :).....

  • Very fitting and eerie song to come on my car radio tonight..Its been a CRAZY night for myself..Found it odd this song of all songs is the first to come on my radio after going through some drama ;P How fitting..I miss the early 90's too!! <3 <3

  • I can understand that. Appreciate your sentiment. Such a lovely song. John Candy always comes to mind.

  • muito boa!!!!

  • In the early '90s, 2 of Paul's 3 backup singers were in Londonbeat, best known for "I've Been Thinking About You"

  • This is one of THE nicest songs I've ever heard & it still makes me cry...

  • AHHHHH....simpler times...I miss the 80's and early 90's so much.
