Advance Wars Dark Conflict review

The free battles are WAY too difficult. It's like playing chess against a computerised genius. Every move you make is countered, and the most you can achieve is a stalemate that lasts forever. I've only ever beaten the first two maps. It's SO fucking hard...

@manninggage Right, Days of Ruin is the American title of the Game. In Europe it is called Dark Conflict. I have no idea why they made two titles for one game but you should bear with it.

The tracks of this game are not tracks for a game! They look like a totally album of a metal band like black mages! Awesome :3 They also remember me Painkiller, that has good tracks and dunno, they let you feel strength during battles.

I kinda liked the happy spin on war, but the downside to that is that you don't have Caulder (Stolos). I NEED CAULDER!!! HE IS SO COOL!!!

HELP HELP>>>Im stuck on C18... basically I need to get to the Com Tower [ is highlighted] to communicate with the allied forces [Civilians, Laurentians & Zephyrians] When I get there I cant take possession of the tower. I thought because is blue and therefore belong to the Civilians, Laurentians & Zephyrians. So I managed to get the one further down, but still cant communicate with the blue army.

Any idea, please? Thanks

i didnt really mind the whole cheery theme from AVW 1, AVW 2, and ADWD (ds). they were fun, challenging, and really good games... i also liked all the CO powers, DUAL STRIKE attacks...they really changed the tide of battles...you could be winning at one point but then when the enemy uses their CO power, you could be at the brink of losing...wow i really liked those...as for days of ruin...well i havent played it yet so i cant really say anything about it...anyway all the advance wars games rock!

This one is way worse thant Duel strike: less content, gritty style does not suit the series at all (not everythign has to look like shit to be "cool").

To summarize it is less deep in gameplay, has less depth yet is still the hardest game in the series because you cannot use the CO powers to your advantage. The CO powers were a + and not a - so gettign rid of them sucks.

Overall this game is to Advance wars what Shadow dragon was to fire emblem. Good but oversimplified for rookies.

Dual Strike*

I finally got around to playing Dark Conflict. So it turns out theres more maps, an online mode and loads of storage space for downloadable maps/created maps. The gameplays a lot more balanced and structured too, and deeper with the levelling up system.

The series was going down the wrong path with all the pointless additions from Dual Strike. Good to see them reel it in a little and refine the gameplay.

Balanced I will give you but I don't like that. I liked how Grit was the ultimate long range guy and how if there was a mission in hard mode but had many long range units that I could use him. I liked how Colin with money upgrades could buy units for almost half price and how with Sami with all the invade abilites attached she could take control of a city with less risk of failure. And it was STILL challenging. Hard campaign was fun as hell for this reason but the challenge came in the normal.

Actually I will say this: the main campaign was probobly better and more balanced in days of ruin but the game I find myself going back to and playign over and over is duel strike. I have beaten hard campaign over 15 times with different charecter combos on different levels. I have maxed out every charecter and collected ever item. I have played it for over 400 hours whereas I only played days of ruin for about 20 (main mode plus a couple of online matches).

No, the gameplay is simplified with a lot of stuff taken out. Because of this it is harder because you have less options. It is also way less fun. So it is both simplified and hard.

psp has homebrew so you can play ps1,gb,gbc,gba,nes,snes and loads of other consoles on the psp. although this only can be done on the original psp and sony are trying to crush homebrew which is the only thing the system has.
