It is not a sail boat it is an Aircraft Career it has an F-18 Hornet fighter jet on the deck of it and i am sure that sail boats can't support a fighter jet now can they idiot?!!!
very strong built american pride right there, yes, the planes and basically everything on deck is washed down afterwards. I,ve been on the cg-19, uss dale and as-40 uss frank cable and those ship are crazy in stormy waters
When I was at sea we had to do corrosion control everyday our bird was exposed to the salt air and not just the spray. That jet is going to be an expensive paperweight after that storm is finished. Isnt that a helo up on the bow getting it worse than the f-18?? This storm aint shit you havent been to sea unless you have experienced something like this on a destroyer or frigate. We always thought carrier sailors were wimps when they got sea sick try being a human pinball for hours on a tin can.
Well they are supossed to ghave extra corrosion protection for sea enviroments... still i would think that the navy had storms planed when they designed those planes and carriers.. specially when when fully loaded , half air-wing goes in the deck, still maybe they just send that half of the planes to another safe location during the storm
are jets starting on this weather?

@brboi16 kinda chancey joinng the navy then, wasn't it? Shipboard life isn't bad, conditions like this are very rare.

I would hate to be the aircraft technician who has to clean the salt water out of that F-18 at the end of the storm.
Washu73 2 years ago
you always have to clean it the jets. the salt water evaporation just goes on the plane so you always have to clean it..

IT is an aircraft carrer idiot! No fishing boats have flight decks with an f-18 hornet fighter jet on it. and the carrier is the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk.

What happens to jets after they are exposed to so much salt spray? surely that can't be too good for them.
