why these type of advertisements like rin vs tide detergents and horlicks vs complan health drinks.these type of advertisements should not be encouraged
Most imp. is to notice that: this ad is not against TIDE, but the its new cheaper entrant TIDE NATURALS. Hence the disclaimer that appears in the bottom during the TVC says... " Schematic representation of superior whiteness is based on Whiteness Index test of Rin Vs Tide Naturals as tested by Independent lab"
This surely makes the ad a spendid pice of work, but which could not got portrayed properly, as this disclaimer did not clearly show up. Overall, its a beautiful ad
@Majid: you can check the code of conduct from asci website. whereas this entire ad has a catch which I wasnt aware until i read a blog of my senior which mentions that theres an insight to the bottom of the screen during the entire ad which says, "As tested by Independent Lab" and "Issued in the interest of Rin Users"
(e) The advertisement does not unfairly denigrate, attack or discredit other products, advertisers or advertisements directly or by implication.
Though these points are highly debatable from both PnG and HUL sides, but if other corporates also start following this then there could be a huge market clash wherein the ads would lose its creativity. This is definitely not a smarter way but a shorter way to market ur product.
Hey...you have any articles on the these rules....would you mind sharing your source. Client of mine very keen to get to the bottom of this 'loophole' that unilever has found:)....guess she is tempted for her own industry....personally i agree with you....its quite tasteless
(b) The subject matter of comparison is not chosen in such a way as to confer an artificial advantage upon the advertiser or so as to suggest that a better bargain is offered than is truly the case.
(c) The comparisons are factual, accurate and capable of substantiation.
(d) There is no likelihood of the consumer being misled as a result of the comparison, whether about the product advertised or that with which it is compared.
also... does the unilever ad meet the legal requirements???? to me its thin ice.....if they are getting away, and u know how....do share....thanks again.
Advertisements containing comparisons with other manufacturers or suppliers or with other products including those where a competitor is named, are permissible in the interests of vigorous competition and public enlightenment, provided:
(a) It is clear what aspects of the advertisers product are being compared with what aspects of the competitors product.
