Carl Verheyen is my absolute favorite guitar player. His Intervallic Rock dvd changed my approach and I'm actually making noises that don't suck(as much) :)
With respect to Carl when he says the major pentatonic at 0:24 that's not the E major pentatonic he plays...there's no A note in E major pentatonic...nice lick though
@inspectormorse When you bend the first string a whole step, you're "gathering" other strings as you go. As Psumescroat said, just pick the second string while you're bending the first one and you should be golden.
LOL I agree man, it is a very difficult thing to learn. It is much easier if you learn to do it with the G and B strings first.
Bend up on the 15th fret on the B string and grab the 14th on the G string. Bend up on the B with your ring and grab with your middle finger.
Then practice that using all your fingers. For instance, with your pinky and ring finger. That will help you learn to do it in the same fret with the E and B strings.
that don't look like no "relic" strat... more like the real deal bay-bee

Um, its just a passing tone. Same with the "D" he used. (But you didn't mention that note). Basically, don't worry about it. :)

@DiamondHarbourRoad that A and D is a part of Eminor pentatonic, he mixed major and minor pentatonic as what he's just mentioned.

I love this lick ! I've used the steel bend in that position so having this one in the bag makes a nice change.

Is there anyone who can do that bend and then grab the b string?? It's just impossible...
inspectormorse 2 years ago
bend it harder and your finger should be there already then you just pluck the string
