I love the way JPJ almost misses coming in on the mic, cuts out the bass to sing, and, like a great musician, that's no longer a mistake- he cuts it again the next bar, like it was meant to happen. What a bassist, what a musician.
The funny thing is, he didn't even have to sing then, it's Dave first, then Dave and John :D
was at this show - on my 38th birthday! Goes to show I am not too old too rock and Roll!!! This ROCKS!! so glad there is still new bands out there that rock rather than suck.
finally a super group who doesn't disappoint !!..it's a bout fucking time these dudes show these young farts how it's done !!..and dave looks like he's on a high protein diet, ..his arms are fucking huge !! and what can i say about jonesy thyat hasn't been said alread?..a fucking master musician ,and the coolest living member of zep ! unlike a disgruntled plant, or a sell-out pagey !!..
Dave grohls favourite band was Led Zeppelin, could you imagine having a favourite band, and then forming a new band with a member of your favourite band!? that would be sick
chickenfoot is a classic example of a band having no material worthy of their talent . TCV has the material AND vitality , which is unusual in a band of veterans who have nothing to prove. Thats the way I sees it anyhow
@5Cincinnatus i found that Chickenfoot isn't the best group of musicians to really play together... Chad is too funky and Satriani is too instrumental. Compared to TCV, who combine hard rock with psychedelic, TCV has it made. JPJ helped make psychedelic, Homme is modern psychedelic+rock, and Grohl is just fucking Dave Grohl. TCV > Audioslave+Chickenfoot
its disappointing to see so many people focused on their cell phone video, rather than simply enjoying the live experience. If I worked my way up front, I certainly wouldn't pull out my phone. Its like zombies....
I just gotta say it's soooo awesome to see a rock band improvise a solo section like jazz performers regularly do. Homme, and especially Grohl and Jones have a brilliant chemistry with each other. They are incredibly synchronized and are fully capable of adapting to each other. Additionally, it's good to see Alain back in action too.
If this is any indication of what the next decade's music is going to be like then next decade will kick the ever-living shit out of this decade's ass. Let's hope this is the future.
it's so good too see grohl back on the drums. What a control of dynamics, he's amazing. Anyone who doubts that he's one of the best drummers of today's scene has no understanding of music.
this has got to be 1 of the best supergroups in a long time... theres pretty much 3 generations of music here... 60s-70s (john paul jones) 80s-90s (dave grohl) and 2000s (josh homme), yet it works so well... big fan off led zeppelin, nirvana, qotsa, and foo fighters, and this just seems to be up there with those already (in their early stages)
I know what you mean but in my opinion Dave and Josh belong to the same generation, they started playing as teens in the 80's, rose to fame (sort of for Josh) during the 90's, and they both front successful bands at the present.
I'm a pretty big fan of Queens and especially Kyuss, but I honestly can't see why SFTD is so praised. It's a great album, but was hugely inaccessible and hard to get into, and even now that I like it, I can't see the greatness that others seem to see. Opinions, anyone?
Are you referring to songs for the deaf, that cd is amazing, I've never had a problem getting into it, in fact, i need to put it in to storage every once in a while to avoid it getting over played... also I had this 20 year chick that had never heard it before in my car a couple of weeks ago and she was freaking out about how good it is... ps, all these losers should be kicked out for recording like that, serously how many cameras are up in the air, retarded!
I completely agree. If I had to pick the worst album between Queens of the Stone and Kyuss, it would be a toss-up between SFTD and Wretch. Both are great, but not even close to the other albums IMO. Most people I know who think STFD is the best Queens of the Stone Age album do not like Kyuss.
This is so freaking awesome, this really gives one hope about the future och rock music. The energy their producing is so raw and pure it's magical like rock music should be.
I knew after Songs For the Deaf that Homme would find a way to play with Grohl again, the way he talked about how that album and the shows they did were..... Rules.
He's Alain Johannes, a musician that worked with Homme's QOTSA and also toured with them in the Lullabies To Paralyze tour.
Hey men, this is REAL rock music! I've been loving Homme's music and Grohl's drumming from a long time, but what the hell, have you seen the way JPJ played his bass ath this show? Amazing!
Alain Johannes, he's pretty famous in the underground scene, he's from the band Eleven, he also helped Chris Cornell bring his career up, he's been in a lot of genres, he was in a band with flea and a few other people, he's pretty sick
I saw them in Columbus. I've noticed every seems to post how LOUD they are. Maybe the loudest show I've ever been to. Ears rang for 3 days. Those 2 Fender Twin Reverbs Alain plays through are soooo loud. JPJ's bass rig is gigantic, especially that Bad Cat head which is the size of a combo amp.
they say dress for the job you want, not the job you've got. SO why does Alain seem to want to be an accountant instead of a part of this, obviously the greatest super group ever. J.k. much love and admiration all around!!! RIP Natasha Schneider!
