First off Madonna opened the doors for every pop artist to come after her. Many critics noted similarities between "Born This Way" and Madonna's 1989 song, "Express Yourself". Honestly Madonna did everything GAGA is doing now 1000x better. GaGa is in her 4th year in this music world and only has 3 #1 singles, when Madonna was in her 4th year she had 6 #1 singles.
As a fan of both, I find this disappointing. By taking such a negative stance, it makes Madonna look bitter and resentful. I feel she still could have found a better way to express her opinion without cutting Gaga down. It must feel horrible to hear that from someone who was your icon and mentor.
I've been following Madonna's career for years. She has taken cues from countless other musicians, fine artists, fashion designers, writers, directors, etc.

As a fan of both, I find this disappointing. By taking such a negative stance, it makes Madonna look bitter and resentful. I feel she still could have found a better way to express her opinion without cutting Gaga down. It must feel horrible to hear that from someone who was your icon and mentor.
I've been following Madonna's career for years. She has taken cues from countless other musicians, fine artists, fashion designers, writers, directors, etc.

I think she explained it very well. It probably isn't a good feeling hearing something similar to what you've once done. I like Gaga alot she IS talented and a great performer. She was inspired by Madonna but I think she did not copy her. She does write her own songs and as far as fashion goes I think it's a lot different from Madonna's.
