@lonelykatana I agree completely. im buying a netbook for travel, not for at home, cause ive got a really nice powerful windows 7 hp, that i use for editing and animation.
my laptop has problems again. I've spent so much money getting it repaired again and again, im just getting a new pc. im getting a netbook, because all i really did on my laptop, was just browse the internet, and take it to travel. I've got my hp for adobe after effects and blender, and all my filming/animation stuff, so i'm buying a netbook. its a toshiba
I have an MSI wind U100 too but the Bluetooth seems to not be working. I've been researching everywhere and trying all their suggestions but none work. I need help !! How'd yours work?
okay, so other than the fact that its pretty and light, how about the practical information? is it durable? did you have any trouble with it? what is the loading time like? what was the preloaded software?
@calebam great my 5 year old uses it all the time. i did have trouble with the wifi drivers and had to re install them from site but thats fine. and windows 7 basic is basic so it starts up fast. the hdd is sensative and jumping around while loading stuff will make it freeze but thats why its not expenceive an ssd would push the price up

24 % overclock is only evaluable by switching on the 220V power by the charger. On battery mode it doesnt' work. Anyway this is the best netbook with atom n270 processor. adding 1 extra GB ram and upgrading the bios allow you to have 224 MB total of GRAPHIC integrated ram, and this allow you to play some 3D games. 3D mark 2001 works great for example after this modding!
wtf msi is a band ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
MSI wind is more optimizeable. You can upgrade the memory by adding a 1gb stick you dont have to replace the 1gb stick with a 2gb stick. Also MSI lets you update the bios and the unit is designed to overclock to 2ghz. Which is a 25% increase in speed. Thats fast.
You press Del to go into the BIOS and theres an option to alter the Turbo Clock Speed by up to 24%(2ghz). Then when you boot your Wind you hit FN-F10 and it goes into 'Turbo' mode which increases the clock speed.
tons better compared to the 701. bigger screen, better keyboard and trackpad. the eee pc 1002HA is a much closer rival but it only comes with a 2 cell battery as standard.
how about comparing the MSI WIND U100 vs the Asus Eee PC 1000H? which ones better? i know the only advantage in asus 1000 H is that it's a 6 cell bat .. right?
I already purchased the exact same model reviewed here, two days ago. I prefer MSI because they're quite lenient with their warranty policy and allow you to upgrade the memory, hard disk and even install bluetooth (the U100-420US model does not come with bluetooth) without fea rof voiding the warranty. Plus you can find plenty of accessories for it online, there's a proliferation of 3rd party batteries on ebay, even the 9 cell models, not to mention the vast community support available.
yeah ... it's really hard to upgrade your memory with asus cause they always say that your warranty will be invalid .. bummer for that ... anyway thanks acalthu :) really got some great ideas .. appreciate it!!
The MSI , Asus EEE, and the Samsong N10 are the best Netbooks because is uses the same memory and hard drives of normal laptops and can easily be upgraded... The Acer, HP and other alike Netbooks are garbage... uses 1GB simscard as memory and you cannot upgrade that unless you like taking your whole pc apart pulling out the keyboard aswell just to ad another stupid 1GB simscard yet your stuck with the hard drive it came cause thats no upgradeable. Stick with any I mentioned.

Yet another boring, overpriced, underpowered Intel Atom based Netbook. When are we gonna see some of the VIA Nano machines, that kick the ATOM in the ASS??
I have a feeling, If any company releases one in the US/Canada/Europe, that it will be Everex, seeing how many products they made, based off the C7/C7M VIA processors. Those where, and still are not that bad for as cheap as you can get them for, for a basic system. :-)
This line is VIRTUALLY identical to the Eee PC's 10 inch model. But here again - in my humble (though rather experienced opinion) these things need an SSD - not a moving hard drive. Trust me - you will find yourself walking around using this thing while your walking (use caution). You will bump it around. And moving hard drives can crash with a fairly light impact. I recomend the Netbooks with SSDs for this reason.
