Man every time I saw a Senna onboard I always put this cello suite by Bach! It's like Ayrton said: "Suddenly I was nearly two seconds faster than anybody else, including my team mate with the same car. And I realised that I was no longer driving the car consciously. " (...) " It frightened me because I was well beyond my conscious understanding". Everytime I see a Senna onboard with this music, I always feel I'm beyond my conscious understanding.
"He established his own limits. When he reached those limits he wanted to beat them and establish new ones.....I never new how fast he could go,I had an understanding but i didn't know." Alain Prost Talking About Ayrton Senna
@biggerbollocks... the talent now across the grid is maybe comparable to back then. but think of who senna was up against. Prost, Piquet, Mansell, Rosberg, Alboreto... These guys weren't without talent! schuey struggles now coz he's old and lost his edge.
As for the lap, it would appear to only be a warm up lap but nice one to see nonetheless
greatest driver for sure but as for processional now? man it was 10 times worse back then and the talent level now is much higher now over the grid hence why schuey strugglin agaisnt his team mate every week. Senna was is the greatest but the talent overall much better now
This is not the same sport as we watch for 2 hours of now processionally FORCED overtaking... Not by a long shot. Can we at least go back to 1997 spec cars, engines and talented drivers?
@OTKSenior Well he is simply the best ever F1 driver in history I think is a respect to him. I think is way more STUPID to talk bullshit on a videogame walkthrough video, try searching for those you will find most of the videos with parrots talking shit rather than the game and that is really stupid not this.
Unbelievable talent piloting a true, raw race car. When I see F1 drivers today downshifting with their thumbs in their over assisted cars, I come back and watch this man.
I can kind of imagine myself being able to drive a GP2 car at most of the F1 tracks with alot of practice. But I can't even drive monaco in video games for more than a couple of laps without wrecking. The level of concentration required there with no runoff area is just amazing and watching senna aim this tub with a rocket on it is pure bliss. All the guys from this era and before are heroes.
That's why this is called F1 and that's why we enjoy to watch. To drive 305km on the limit and in Monaco case between armco barriers. They are really best drivers.
This video is from 1985, not 86. Look at the chicane just after tunnel. 1985 was last year with single chicane. In 1986 they added second chicane (as it is today). On video is only single one - so it's from 1985!

I thought the chicane after the tunnel was part of Monaco's circuit all along.
However, Senna = Legend, that's all! ;)

This is actually 1985. The front wing assembly of the Lotus was a different shape from '86 and the Harbour chicane was in its' old format.
