actually in the real stories, characters in real life are more treacherous and complicated to the extent that if this show were to portray, it would disgust you. This theme song will even lose its glorious' feeling'. This movie divides the good and bad so idealistically. i would encourage you to read the 'sanguozhi' to get a better understanding. anyway, this is jus a movie..NICE movie

@67brovo agreed n ditto; the characters are even worse in the romance of the three kingdoms lol; and of course much more exaggerated and biased because it was written in a time when the sentiments and opinions were that the Shu-Han belligerents were the righteous and honourable heroes (who deserved to succeed Han dynasty, partly because of Liu Bei's royal blood ties); & Wei + Wu were downright eveil :P,

i.e. the shu-han generals were glorified, dignified n portrayed as more cunning than others.

I have seen part 1 & 2 and i enjoyed them both. the music score is great and adds to the film. I am a John Woo fan and love his movies. Whether Red Cliff is historically accurate or not, it's still a good movies. I like the chess game approach between the leaders.

John Woo's movie usually contains that type of over-the-top action...

Although that type of action is less ridiculous when the people are using guns (ie hardboiled)...

But then again, this movie isn't very historically accurate so I guess we can just consider this a quasi-fantasy movie like Hero or Crouching Tiger...
