Oh my gosh, why would there be a stop sign where there is no intersection? That doesn't make any sense. Maybe because of the little building right there and people may be nearby? (shrugs)
So of course I felt compelled to totally analyze the situation and come up with a handful of explanations. It's the beast in me that needs things to make sense.

Well, the only logical reason I could come up with is it's a cheap way to slow down traffic. Even though it's a 2 block long dirt road full of holes and ruts which if you drive over it faster than 25 miles an hour you're going to need some major repairs. But why here? There's no school or playground. It's just so arbitrary.

There are a lot of forward thinkers here. I'm sure somebody thought "You know, there COULD be an accident here some day. Let's put a stop sign up here and nip it in the bud".
It would be more dangerous if someone actually did stop for it.
