Awesome tune but the lyrics are way off. One example - It's not "If only it's barely a dream" - The correct lyric is "If only his belly agreed!" It actually makes sense, and is even a bit funny.

Hey, I wrote the songs last year when the publisher had difficulty licensing actual songs from that era. They were licensed; I still own the copyrights.

Correct answers: "...soggy old trench..." "... when his feet e'er left the shore..." (old English for "ever") "...if only his belly agreed."

a soldiers life is no life for the song of a sailors song marching to here, marching to there. But when his company sailed to war his ship had not left the bay, before he came ill, ever so ill, even the sea gulls turned away....etc...
