no it's not.. damnit this is the second time I have had to school people in this.

The extremely expensive watermelons that everybody heard about in japan aren't your everyday watermelon, they are small roughskinned very seasonal watermelons grown only in one small place in Hokkaido Japan. These watermelons are normally reserved only for gifts to people you want to impress, not for eating.

What you see in the vid is prolly about a 5 dollar imported watermelon..

Yes, that's a normal watermelon but it's sure as hell not $5. Try at least 1500-2000 yen. For $5 you'll get a 1/4th of a watermelon.

Fruit is expensive here anyway. Take for example apples, one would have to be mental to buy a single apple for $1.50.
