@OldaurGold i'm in my 40's, born and raised in canada. yes this is a dictatorship. why do you think there isn't jail sentences for political election lies?. if this was a free contry the gov would have to give you a full refund + interest for all of your money they (didn't) spent on the war on drugs.
There's no such thing as freedom, we have a whole bunch of rules, we pay tax, Government/polititians/royal family don't help, we lost are freedom years ago.
You're right, Canada is not free. Banks run this country not politicians.
"Until the control of the issue of currency and credit is restored to government and recognized as its most conspicuous and sacred responsibility, all talk of sovereignty of Parliament and of democracy is idle and futile... Once a nation parts with control of its credit, it matters not who makes the nation's laws... Usury once in control will wreck any nation."
You're asking "Is Canada a free country?" Well, what do ya think? Is Canada a dictatorship (currently)? No it isn't. So it's pointless to watch this vid.
@OldaurGold Actually, I wasn't asking whether it was a dictatorship, the question is why does the viceroy of queen elizabeth have the power to dismiss the parliament.
LONG GUN LAW MEANS NO MORE HUNTING NO MORE FREEDOM NO MORE DEER MEATS NOTHING. and Y2K is like 2012 earth is still here and in 2012 earth will still be here
@Herb615 Well, Herb, if you're a Yank, please remember that Canada can have any type of Queen we want, we're not a US state or a republic. But if you are in fact a French Canadien, "Herbèrt", feel free to move to Quebec where anti-monarchy sentiment is tolerated. The rest of Canada is filled with English Canadians, many, if not most, of whom are of British descent. We like having a head of state and a head of government (Queen and PM). But Harper is still pretty awesome! The Cons are pro-Queen!
@Herb615 canadas ass is basically and historically owned by the united kindom government, if canadas government was independant from britains governement why would it be even necessary for the appointer to be the queen of england? why wouldn t someone in the canadian government be the one to appoint the governer general? We cannot be an independant country if our government at its core is fundamentally dependant on the queen of england or other english authority
Some people from Quebec might agree with you in the sense that it is not free from the British Monarchy. In the realm of British rule however, the Governor General is nothing more than a court jester.
Quite right; and she is Queen of Canada everywhere else, too. Canada is an independent kingdom and the Queen is always at it's head. The creator of this video fails to understand (is probably completely unaware of, actually) the concept of personal union: one person is separately head of multiple states. If such an arrangement puts Canada's freedom into question, then somebody better start asking if the UK is a free country, as well.
There has been recent speculation about Canada possibly being a Republic. That is hogwash! Canada has a rich and wonderful history with the UK and should always have the Queen as Head of State. She's nice, sweet, doesn't harm anyone and is more venerable than Black Obama and Bush. God Save the Queen
erm... The Queen has Limited Power, such as dissolving Parliament . What you failed to understand is that it was the Canadian PM's recommendation to dissolve parliament . The PM being an elected political head, and the Governor General being a Canadian citizen appointed to the position of Viceroy. Neither party can act without the others consent, the GG cannot act without the PM's advice and the PM cannot dissolve parliament.
With one acception in the even of a political dead lock she does not have to refer to the the PM. and can take advice from anyone she wants, and does not have to give a reason for it. In 1987 the gov. gen. took two hours to decide to agree with the PM wishes to hold an election.
Yes, Canada is a free nation. Americans will just never comprehend that a modern liberal democracy has pride in her loyalty to an English Queen. The Commonwealth of Nations is a voluntarily organization. Canada can legitimately leave at any time..I think that would be a sad day for Canada and the United Kingdom.
As a Canadian I have to say that the Governor General does not decide on his/her own, but either agrees or disagrees to the request of Parliamentary parties.
I think this issue had to do with the recent call of Vote of No Confidence when the Liberals and the NDP party backed by the Party Quebecois wanted to apply pressure on the Conservative Party and force Harper out by calling a new election.
The Governor General can either suspend or continue Parliament for this purpose.
The issue is that the Governor General is the personal representative of the queen of england. If she has the power to send parliament home then what does this say about the influence that the queen has over canadian government?
Oh, ok. Because this reminded me of what had occurred here 2 1/2 months ago.
The Governor General relays Parliament's proposals and conclusions to the Queen but the Queen does not have anything to do with the choices made unless they somehow affect the the Crown directly. The Queen cannot veto anything, and is only informed of Canada's actions and outcomes.
The Governor General can return with opinions, but this seldom occurs.
Its an interesting topic we discuss in our lectures at UofT.
Rather than going through my dust covered books on Canadian history, the wikipedia outline is pretty good.
I think one of the issues that are overlooked by Mr. Alex Jones is the role of "responsible government"
This may help interested persons in deciding for themselves if Canada actually has a voice of freedom or not.
Personally, I like to compare the parent and child example. A child grows up and becomes independent but still has ties to the father/mother. It is a similar relationship
Actually the Queen was Crowned Queen of Canada as well. So she is not the personal representative of the Queen of the UK (theres no such title as "queen of england" by the way), The GG is in fact the representative of the Queen of Canada.
The Governor General gives non political leadership and controls the Parliament only when needed and on the advice of the PM anyhow.
@n8glenn but the queen dose not appoint the governor general the parliament dose, the queen really has no influence over her. Its a mostly ceremonial job were she represents the power of the queen in our system out of respect for our history, but not the interests of the queen herself. The priminister asked her to shut down Parliament as a check and balance she can decide to say no and let parliament finish or say yes to his request. She can not just walk up & say we are shutting down parliament
@selucianova - Haitian, former French citizen, former Quebec separatist, former "journalist". Apparently the best qualifications to be head of Canada, are to not be from Canada, have an interest in breaking up Canada and have all the questionable loyalties that go with those things.
@selucianova - uh, what I stated? Not meant to be offensive, merely clinical. Who watches the watchers? People like us. Apologies if you were offended.
I agree with your views on Alex Jones but I do not agree with you on Chomsky. I think he is way overrated and some of what he says re 9/11 beggars belief.
I happen to disagree with Chomsky on a couple of things, but again, I cannot overstate just how insightful he is on our current society. I highly recommend you read him and watch his lecture on "manufacturing consent", it really shines a light on how our society enforces a certain outlook on the world that has nothing to do with reality.
The Monarch traditionally opens and closes Parliament so it's not news to us. It is in fact similar to a President's Executive Order - or the fact that bills in the US need to be signed by the President before being put in to vote. The Govenor General may still hold certain symbolic privelages but it was clearly on bequest of the Prime Minister and not of the Queen.
And if she didn't do what he asked then he would have been ousted and the Governor-General, who is the Governor-General of Canada not England which does not have a Governor-General, would have acted inappropriately because it would have meant that the council of the prime minster was unheeded and would have meant that the government was in apposition of each other. It all worked out like the constitution stipulates.
With the recent suspension of parliament it was done because of the advice of the prime minister. The prime minister like the title implies is the main minister of The Queen and as such if he felt that a suspension was necessary then the Queen or in this case her Governor-General of her Canadian Realm used royal power to act based on the council of the prime minister. If she didn't do what the prime minister asked then it would imply that she no longer had confidence in his abilities to govern.
Our Queen, HM The Queen of Canada, services as our guarantee to a good and democratic government. The Queen through her Governor-General or by herself acts by using her royal powers to affect government when necessary such as to absolve the government if the government were to ever become tyrannical and oppressive to its people. Then order can be restored by forming a new democratically elected government.
I'm Canadian I would say Canada is a free country. We elect most members of our government with the exception of a few who are appointed by The Queen and The Queen. Our head of state, HM The Queen of Canada Elizabeth II, is a great queen and has always severed us well and the fact that Canada is such a free and liberal country proves this. The vast majority of executive administered power is held by the elected government meaning the prime minister, parliament members, and other such people.
Asian work hard and are economically smarter. How do i know this? Because im a Paki myself. Have a nice day with your mortgage and credit card bills moron.

Harper's opposition isnt really any better than Harper.
Canada needs an awakening sadly 99% of print and visual media is owned by the same Cabal that is running Israel, America's media and most of the media in the west and the middle east including Al Jazeera
yes they even own and run the so called free speech bastion AKA Al Jazeera
Its also important to note that the NDP, Liberals & Bloc Quebecois are very deeply in debt from squandering money while running their electoral camapigns. So all what was happening is those people were having sour grapes for losing their welfare. the reason that you dont see Canadians torching the streets and havoc breaking in Canada is because of 2 reasons:
btw Im not discounting Harper's move which is very shrewd or how evil he is or how Canada is a Royal dictatorship ruled by a Queen 2000 miles away
but allow me to tell you what really happened
The three other parties who all advocate extreme democratic socialism only did what they did when; Harper decided that he will end the federal funding for the political parties that is extorted from the heavily taxed Canadian citizens. When he was going to cut off their welfare cheques all hell broke loose
Harper is a neoconservative one world government kill the "islamofacist" guy.
But the 3 smaller parties are just as worst. Infact the worst of 4 evils in Canada ie the NDP is a co-conspirator in the SPP deal that was signed by the newConservative canadian government and a strong advocate of empowering the evil organization known as the United Nations.
