This anime is actually a prequel to reality as we know it. In the deleted scenes there's an epilogue that says "110 years later, the spiral power grew too fast and blew up the entire universe."

the vocals are fine. without the vocals you don't get the lyrics which capture much of what TTGL was really ABOUT (achieving the impossible, fight the powah, etc.)

unless you were talking about the opera vocals.. in which case, I would normally agree with you, but I've heard this song without the opera, and it's just not as good...

The operatic vocals work very well in my opinion. Their lyrics speak of a terrible day of hellish judgement and suffering from god, the very power that the rap lyrics fight against.

Well that's in the original track anyway, there is a version somewhere on Youtube where someone has tried to remove the vocals, and it works ok, but there are some problems with it.
