Rie Fu is actually tri-lingual, Japanese, English, and French. I admire people like her, Utada, and Kwon BoA...who actually think in more than one language. It is very different from just knowing a language.

@PandaCath Actually, she was born in Japan. Then she and her family lived in the state of Maryland. She lived there for a long time during her childhood. When she got older, she went to England for college. So she lived there for a short while. Now she is back in her homeland of Japan. But she loves all three countries equally.
I don't usually get involved in the comments like this, but I'd like to point a few things out. Rie Fu and Utada Hikaru both spent a significant portion of their formative years residing in English-speaking countries. It's no surprise, then, that their accents are minimal when speaking English. It's not racist to point out that someone has an accent--just to make fun of it. You'd have an accent if you spoke Japanese, and a Japanese person would notice it.
@whytecleric ...and, Kown BoA is trifluent...Korean, Japanese, and English. Her Korean and Japanese are native fluent...and she is getting much better in English. Utada was born in New York City...and is the best bi-lingual native speaker I have ever heard. She actually THINKS in both languages. You make an excellent point.
@thirdyearronin my point is that most asian singers ive heard have an accent when they sing in english. a lot of asians have accents when they speak english too, so to hear a native japanese singing in english without the slightest hint of an accent, blows my mind.
@thirdyearronin im sorry, i didnt know i was stereotyping, im just going off of what i heard, to be honest i dont have anything against asians at all, and i apologize if it came out that way.
@fullmetalaang96 not that i'm offended or anything, but my point is, someone being able to speak fluently in a language different from their native tongue shouldnt be a surprise to anyone. of course it depends on where the person grew up, but HOW they grew up and their influences can also affect whether or not they have an accent.. the world of today is very diverse
In fact it is mainly because she had exposure to the American English as child that laid the foundations for her flawless accent. It does not matter whether you master the vocab, its the exposure that counts especially during childhood when knowledge is more readily absorb. Studying in London probably just perfected her English.
actually she studied at the university of London, which would have contributed to her level of English. Spending a short time as a kid in USA would hardly have contributed to her knowledge, no way she could have acquired that much vocabulary and mastery. Anyway not intending this to be an argument regardless of where she studied the song is awesome, her other stuff is really nice too.
i first herd this song on the anime bleach it was the ending as soon as i heard id it i said i have to get this song it was awsome lil did i know that i whould fall in love with all her music she is siple wonderful an i hope she keeps making sons for a long long time. MUCH LOVE RIE FU
@pissofglory WHEN!!? I would think she'd have an accent or something. x] Cause my sister is from Vietnam and her English sucks ASS. -.-;; xD But they're from 2 different countries so. NVM! xD
As a child she lived for three years in the United States with her parents. The effect of residence in the United States is the fact that her English is flawless, which often can be heard in her songs.
@CpPingoo015 >w< u stink that really hurt alot lol. bend over so i can give you the thousand years death up you butt. lol Just like NARUTO CHA!!!!! ^w^
This song sounds familiar. Was it an op or ending theme in an anime?
