McCarthy hits the nail on the head. Brett didn't want to the "little things that go into being a QB". Brett just wanted to rely on his basic abilities. Those abilities were obvioulsy very high. It saw him and the team through a lot of great regular seasons. But the payoff of hard work may not be apparent in the third game of the season but become apparent in the 4th quarter of a upper tier playoff game. Ultimately Favre was lazy and he had no where to fall back on when the slope was steepest.

Brett Favre is one of the only people worth watching in the NFL, and with him leaving, I wonder how much fun it will be to watch football... Sure, there are teams that will do better, and there have been and will be QBs who are more consistent, but Favre loves the game, and fuck you for calling him anything but an inspiration.
