We all know what kind of parade Ernie wants to go to.

This is an interesting one that underlines that Ernie and Bert have different ideas of what's fun and exciting. What's also possible is that Ernie has attention defecit disorder, and Bert is autistic.

It was funny that Bert was so desperately searching for a certain cap, and Ernie says: "Oh yea. I just found this one." (Not to take away from Ernies kind act here. But it was funny to see Bert in a grateful bliss while Ernie was sighing: "You're welcome.")

I have mixed feelings about this. While Ernie's entitled to how he feels, he should of been more appriciative of Bert's interest and not let it get him down, including be happy that he made Bert's day.

And the funny thing about it is that Ernie allowed if to ruin his day when he could of gone out and entertained himself.

Ernie's just more active than Bert, he likes getting out and doing stuff, while Bert is more contemplative (and I can relate).

At least Ernie tried to show interest for Bert's sake, even if his heart's not in it. Maybe he went outside later.

It's kind of funny to see Ernie roughly hitting the bottle cap against the board with the side of his fist so that the cap gets stuck to the board, while Bert is anxiously telling Ernie to be very careful to handle it.

I've got vague memories of an old episode with a "street story" centered on Bert's bottle cap collection: the (fictional) beverage was called Watermelon Whip, and the cap was a green-edged red circle with the letter W in the center. (Perfect choice for a card-carrying W Lover...*LOL*) At least two other characters found bottle caps that *didn't* quite match Bert's description; I wonder if the Watermelon Whip turned up at the end?

Anyone remember the days when really enterprising people would make musical instruments out of those metal bottle caps? They were made of a wooden pole with nails slightly hammered into them and each nail would have a few bottle caps on them for shake-tastic fun.

I have Asperger's Syndrome as well as Bert. Therefore, I could relate really well to Bert's personality: not engaging in much social activity and by engaging in activities most would find tedious: collecting bottle caps and reading a book titled "Boring Stories." However, Bert is quite brilliant. He seems more book smart than Ernie, but he always gets tricked by Ernie.

For example, I've treasured my State Quarter Collection Map(something Bert would definitely enjoy) while my ex-girlfriend from 2000 told me that it was stupid. What did she know?  Also, if you're familiar with Sheldon from CBS sitcom "The Big bang Theory" he seems like the type that would relate very well to Bert and have Asperger's himself.

Sometimes he just wants to be left alone when Ernie wants to play with him. Furthermore, it takes a person with A. S. to identify another.

I'd be interested in the drinks where these bottlecaps came from. I know there's raspberry smash, rhubarb delight, and of course, Figgy Fizz. Apparently, Figgy Fizz is root beer with fig syrup and a preserved fig. I saw that in a recipe in an edition of Sesame Street Library.

Then as soon as Ernie left the room, Bert sang a sad song wishing to have a friend play with him, and while he was singing, Ernie was sneaking in the room and hiding from Bert. As soon as Bert stopped singing, Ernie surprised him saying he'd rather play hide and seek with Bert.

Yes, that's an excellent point. I know on most of the Ernie and Bert skits, the skits mostly have a happy ending for Ernie but, a sad and/or angry ending for Bert.
