noobs be caring about whats fastest, who cares, waste your money while i turn heads in a 2008 rossion q1. i like the style and performance overall of a car, who cares about top speed.
They spend the whole video talking about how awesome it is and quoting statistics that are better than much more expensive machinery, then at the end they say it's not worth it. Really? Just because you have to put the engine in or what? I would love to assemble my own supercar. Whoever did this review must not be much of a gearhead
The production quality and overall feel of the video is pretty bad, especially for a company like Car & Driver. Looks like something someone made for a school project or something. Almost all the shots are direct copies of stuff Top Gear would do, just WAY cheesier and poorly produced and edited. Crap music. Horrible static during the voiceovers. And 1:44 - really? Was the car going into lightspeed or something? Come on...
Crappy editing and i can't hear the reviewer. The $100,000 should get you a fully built car. Now for $100,000 this is as nice and fast as $250,000 Ferraris. So yes it is worth it. What is more affordable than this?
The original US distributor for the Noble was One G Racing. They took over production of the Noble with the new body style, changed the name and moved the company to Miami. Otherwise nothing changed. C&D's times were actually a bit slow; others have had a hotter shoe. This is a 180 cubic inch six!
Whole bunch of non-knowledgeable car fans here, I guess, including Car and Driver. This is a terrible video. This is the Noble M400, but with a modified body shape, uprated engine and some other tweaks. 450 bhp, 400 lbs-ft of torque, 2500 lb car. It's a built-from-the-ground-up car, not a kit. The entire car is built in South Africa and shipped here completely finished but without an engine/transmission. That package is installed here, and the process avoids some legal restrictions.
@dspellman2002 Seems you fit in the "non-knowledgeable car fans". The Q1 is more than a rebodied M400. Much of the chassis is changed, the suspension was redesigned, the aerodynamics were changed and the interior is vastly improved. The car takes the M400's performance and ups it everywhere while also being more civilized.
@TheOfficialKC All correct. And I'm aware of all of that. Thus the "some other tweaks." Limited number of characters per reply, doncha know. But thanks for adding all the informative bits. It was the "kit" whining I was trying to address.
Um someone needs to tell Car and Driver that at the price quoted....assembly is NOT required and that at it's price point it beats the McLaren F1 in most catagories...More Car and Driver bias against "KIT" cars.
@cognativoverlord the mcllaren f1 is like 2 million nowadays and id much rather have a mclaren because those are still one of the fastest cars in the workd at 20 years old
why is everyone so eager to see a video of the zr1? we're watching a video of a fucking rossion q1! haha, that being said the zr1 is also a nice car, but not even in the same league, sorry.
Will do. We have 2 more track days at High Plains raceway here in Colorado in September. Need to find a mount that clamps to the roll bar. I also forgot to mention the GT R. I drove that as well. They are all great cars.
I have a Q1 and my brother has a ZR1. At the track, the Q1 pulls a little faster out of the corner. The ZR1 can go deeper before braking due to the massive brakes. On most days, they are very evenly matched. We bought the Q1 because I wanted to get a car that is as close to my shifter kart and the Rossion won. I drove a GT3, Z06 and ZR1. I also like the fact that there is no traction control, abs or other assistance. You either know how to drive or you'll be in the weeds!
This car brand new fully loaded cost $109K. Ferrari 430 Scuderia and Lambo Gallardo LP560-4 brand new cost well over $200K and that's for a base model not fully loaded. Nissan GTR brand new cost $84K and again that's for the base model. Vette Zr1 brand new base model $106K. Needless to say this Q1 smashes on all of these cars in the 1/4 mile. I don't know bout you guy's, but thats a no brainer if you ask me.
@rob16875 I've never seen or herd of the Zr1 getting a 0-60 time of 3sec flat. Fastest 0-60 time I've seen for the Zr1 was 3.3 and 1/4 done in 11.2. What I can tell you is that I've witnessed first hand the Q1 get a 3.1 0-60 time and finish up the 1/4 mile in 11sec flat at California speedway in Fontana, Ca.
@idontcare80 The car's trap speed is identical with those of other stock ZR1s. Only difference is the driver pulls off a really good launch, and on stock tires since you can tell by the tread that they're the stock PS2s they come with.
wow...hard to believe this thing is based on a Ford Duratec 30 V6...engine bay needs some eye candy...id be in either way but if it was mine id powder-coat the valve covers find a way to retrofit a V6 SHO intake with secondaries...all u would need is an oval to split port adapter and ud be set!
VERY exciting car, even to the most jaded "auto-snob" in me! LOVE the FoMoCo. powerplant, but what I was the most impressed with -honestly- was that interior. It doesn't look cobbled together like a lotta' these sorts of cars do (*cough*SaleenS7*cough*). It actually looks like it was made for the car.
@lllBADMANlll It may not be faster, but it is certainly the better designed car for racing. Less weight, excellent weight distribution, and awesome handling characteristics. While a GTR will understeer in the corners, the lightweight RWD mid-engined Q1 will conquer any corner with just a touch of handling-improving oversteer. And don't forget that it's 400 lbs lighter than the 430 and 1200 lbs lighter than the GTR. The lighter your car is, the less it resists changing direction.
@fidgetingfinch Ahh you said the magic word, "Racing". The Q1 is design for Track racing, The Ferrari F430, Nissan GTR, Lamborghini Gallardo are all purpose cars design for everything! and thats why i would buy 1 of these cars before i buy a Rossion Q1. Holla Back :-)
@lllBADMANlll you save like 100k over the ferrari and lambo... and the gtr is not that fun to drive because its such an impersonal driving experience.... it is blazing fast tho
@champ1193 The Lamborghini Gallardo Cost 100K The Ferrari F430 Cost 90K The Nissan GTR Cost 60K, So the question remains, why would i buy this Rossion Q1 instead of one of these cars.
The noble m400 is one of my favorite cars ever, and i think that this new company Rossion did a great job on the technical aspect .. but i think they really screw up the exterior design. The noble looked awesome ...
I was wondering why nissan didn't build something like this until I saw the 100k tag... It seems quite expensive for something that doesn't seem that sophisticated.
