im actually going to school to study mayan archaeology and i personally dont believe it will be the end of the world. Some scholars have translated the mayan codices as saying that in 2012 a veil will be removed and the world thought will be more clearer to us as well as the world coming together more as one, and then there are those who translate it as the end of the world. I guess its more what you think/believe.

The science side in me does not like 2012. This may be true, it may not be. How the Mayans came up December 21, 2012, as to be the end of days? I'm not sure. Oh yes and by the way the Mayan people hade a 365 1/4 days calendar that was called HAAB witch means earth. So the Mayans new everything about are Gregorian calendar. It was used for book keeping only, taxes for when the crops where ready.
