"Celtic Ireland and Britain is deeply rooted in Spain."
There is now DNA evidence indicating the relationship between the Celt-Iberians and in particular, Irish people. The Haplogroup R1b (M343) is found in 90+ percent concentration in North Central Spain and Ireland.
This massive project i believe is still being conducted by National Geographic The Wait Family Foundation and others.
My brother took part in this study. Our family is from Galicia and Asturias. We were there for centuries.
When Iberia was conquered by the Romans it was already a land made up of many different people from all parts of Europe and the Mediterranean. Among them were a people called the celtiberians as they were known to the Romans. Their origins were unknown and they did not what to assimilate with the Romans. They were eventually subdued and absorbed into the mighty Roman empire. It is possible the celtiberians travelled outside of Iberia and the link between Iberia and Wales is very real.
mmedefarge, yes certainly Celts came from central Europe, but recent research at Oxford has confirmed what i learned as a child- has shown the Welsh have Iberian roots. Of course many Welsh moved into Brittany when the Anglo-Saxons invaded Britain, and were pushed into the West of Britain, into Cornwall as well as Wales.
Er, the original Celts did not come from Spain but the Alps. They spread out through several areas in Europe including what is now Serbia & France. Because the British Isles were largely uninhabited, the culture of the Celts came to dominate there, in the last place that they settled in Europe. (My parents were from the Picos).
@mmedefarge cwhy do you think r1b is mosttly found in spain + ireland + british isles + france? the celtics spread out into all of those places and left their legacy
@mmedefarge look at the percentages and youll see what i mean percentages in central asia and north africa are wasy less than 12% but that 12% explains why somw north africans and central asians look similar to europeans
The legend tells that when the Muslims imbadieron españa the Christians sheltered in asturias pushed towards the north and there, the fact that this one considered our father of the mother land in españa Don Pelagius, conquered them in the legedaria he(she) battles of covadonga what was the first victory and the way towards the reconquest in the year 717
Asturias is very beautiful with its mountains like the Picos de Europa and fabulous beaches. A fantastic combination, more than a match for many famous European tourist areas, it should be much better known. Soy Gales. Yes, the Welsh originated from N.Spain- Galicia, Asturias- and N.Portugal. All wonderful areas. And Asturias even has parts like Snowdonia in North Wales, with slate roofed buildings, and coal mining valleys too. I've stayed there twice, expect to return soon!
Celtic Ireland and britain is deeply rooted in Spain. Historicaly, they dominated most of spain till they were pushed up north by the Iberians. Galicia came from the latin word Gallaecia
Abysmal video. Asturias is not Spain, thank you.
