This is why hip hop used to be the shit. Just rapping about lemonade and it sounds ill... Now we got rappers sayin "lemonade" to describe their Shoes, cars and jewelry.
@leo10rap4ever I know which song DWYCK is and i know that Guru spits that line so u dont have to state that for me. But what i didn't know was that DWYCK was realesed that early, thought it came round '94 like the album did. Thanks!
He was one of my favorite kid rappers in the early to mid 90's. Shame the streets took him down. Maybe, when he gets out he can get back in the studio and drop some new joints.
"He was apprehended on March 5, 2001, and was subsequently convicted of the killing. He is currently serving a 14-year sentence at Sing Sing Correctional Facility."
so he will be free in 4 years and wonder what lil wayne and soulja boy did to hip hop, shoot em and go into prison for another 20 years. then he'll be a legend FOR EVER :D
@RawStreamsYour rebuttal is total Fail. Slick Rick moved here from England when he was little kid (1975), and has been here ever since. He doesn't rep england what so ever-he reps NYC. LOL when they were gonna deport his ass for shootin' his cousin-Did he wanna go back? FUCK NO. And just cause Slick Rick's from England doesn't make u expert on hip hop cornball lol. And also Slick Rick's not a pioneer-he's a legend. Pioneers are guys like Grandmaster Caz, Whodini, Melly Mel etc. U sir-are a moron
Damn, I just wiki'd Chi Ali. Dude's doing a 14-year bid in Sing Sing on a murder rap. There's falling off, and then there's getting buried. It's a shame too. This dude had a good flow too.
These acts were interesting and recall listening to them, including Chi Ali, Black Sheep, early Common (Sense), Poor Righteous Teachers, Leaders of the New School. Most of those acts didn't survive after the epicenter of hip-hop shifted from NY to Los Angeles. To be honest most of these acts haven't aged as well as classic west coast shit, but this was definitely first choice in my high school years.
@RawStreams haha, I'm with you. I fucking love Guru, but me and my friends always talked about this line because he's the only person who could pull it off like that.
@RawStreams Huh?? Those bars GURU spit in D.W.Y.C.K. were some of the illest ever.. If I'm not mistaken I think the Beatnuts produced this track and added a tight-ass GURU sample to it--so what's so weak???
@JayeP1976 If im not mistaken Gang starr's album Hard to Earn came out '94 and this song came '92. That means that Guru took the verse from this song, not the other way around.
@Liban2na Huh???? This song was not on "Hard 2 Earn" Jackass. It was a B-side on the single "Ex-girl to the next-girl" from the album "Daily Operation" which came out in 1992. LOL if your gonna comment with the intention of trying to prove someone wrong, at least know what your talking about. NOOB.
@JayeP1976 When did i say that this song was on Hard to Earn, can you point it out? I said that DWYCK is on Hard to Earn which it is, once again get your facts right and don't try to lie about me! Btw the b-side of DWYCK is the song flip the script.
@JayeP1976 Why should i? Get your facts right u fucking moron, Hard to Earn was realesed '94 like i said! Prove me wrong instead of talking crap, u are behaving like a child.
@Liban2na HAHAAAA Why do you keep bringin' up "Hard 2 Earn" ??? We're all talkin' bout "DWYCK"--the song where the GURU sample came from...... are you retarded, or do your parents just tell you your "special" all the time????? Like I said--you make yourself look dumber & dumber with every post......
@Liban2na One more time smart guy: THE GURU SAMPLE IN THIS SONG CAME FROM THE GANGSTARR SONG "DWYCK" RELEASED IN 1992 FT. NICE AND SMOOTH. IT WAS A B-SIDE TO THE SINGLE "EX-GIRL TO THE NEXT-GIRL"-A SONG FROM "DAILY OPERATION" ALSO RELEASED IN 1992. SINCE THEY MADE "DWYCK" AFTER "DAILY OPERATION" THEY PUT IT ON "HARD 2 EARN". IT WAS ALREADY 2 YEARS OLD WHEN "HARD 2 EARN" WAS RELEASED. NOW DOES THAT MAKE SENSE TO YOU DUMBASS????? OR DO I NEED TO EXPLAIN IT AGAIN???
Thanks so much for the upload!!!
