the most beautiful thing,as with every sketch,is when oliver looks into the camera and has 'this' look on his face.........that really is priceless !!

Just for interest sake,Mrs.Hardy was played by Isabel Keith.Anita Garvin was Mrs.Laurel.
Anita Garvin was quite a common actress on the Roach lot.She also played the role of Mrs.Laurel in the L&H short "Blotto".Not a lot is known about Isabel Kieth.
I have the DVD with Be Big + Lucky Dog[L&H's first appearence in the same film] and lucky dog was made in 1917 before they were a Duo, lucky dog was where they first met and became friends
@Lorcanproductions All movies were still silent in 1917.The very first talkie was The Jazz Singer in 1927.Two years after that, the talkies took over the silent films permenantly.
'Be Big', I never really liked this one. Mainly because it was so shallow. It really made me feel empty watching it. The only other L&H short I get that from is The Fixer-Uppers. But I LOVE the rest.
@ExplorerDS6789 Agreed. Be Big started out exciting enough with the anticipation of a great party when the wives are away, but just ends up with L&H trying to get the boots off. Such anticipation - such dissappointment. In L&H's 3rd feature film, Sons of the Desert (1933), they sort of redid this story in reverse with L&H sneaking off to a convention in Chicago while the wives are home, but finally got it right. Sons of the Desert is much better and worth watching.
"Be Big"spent to much time on boot removel. Talk about milking a scene. That horrible music in the background.Dreadful.Sounded Like Ollie taking a huge dump in a toilet.
In them days - when Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy made 'Be Big' - America and the world had reached rock bottom !
It was the big depression and life was very hard and very tough. Millions of unemployed people in USA alone. It was the time of the big hobo camps of the unemployed, bitter, broken down Americans ... Gruesome times.
I used to watch this with my sister and two cousins when I was a kid. We laughed until it hurt. I think I still have the video tape somewhere, i'm going to go find it. Thanks for posting!

I wished I lived in the 1930s. Everyone was so well mannered and they all dressed with dignity.

well...'everyone' is a rather relative issue but in any case it must've been better what we have now...in alot of ways

Hilarious! They are all going to Atlantic City and Stan decides to take a bucket, a spade and a yaught.

The sound of Stan's doorbell when Hardy pushes him on it is hilarious.
I had this tape as a kid, it was yellow with the duo on the cover. Wish I could find another copy.
