She kicked through with her not her foot on her double Axel. That is why she never achieved enough height to land it. I personally think she wasn't skating her best here. She almost fell on her triple Lutz as well. She just barely hung. I love Joannie Rochette's skating i wish she could've skated better. I guess she didn't exactly see this competition as important as other competitions such as Nationals, Worlds, and the Olympics.
Yes she is a fantastic figure skater, but given her competition she did not perform to podium level. She has NEVER placed on the podium on any international level competition before(& probably never will again)& there is a reason for that. Her competition,Kim Yu-Na & Mao Asada are sensational & flawless.Rachel Flatt landed all of her difficult jumps solidly,Joannie almost fell twice.Politics is not supposed to come into play when scoring but in history the scoring has been corrupt & they are human.
@christmaszorro Joannie has never placed the podium at any international level competition? Hun, do your research before posting comments. Did you forget about her 2nd place finish at the 2009 Worlds? How about her 3rd place finish at the Grand Prix Final? And most recently, her bronze medal in Vancouver! Seriously, where did you get that from?
Many condolences go out to Joannie Rochette for the loss of her mom. It is horrible to face this loss especially at the very important part of her life when she is about to try out for an olympic gold medal. I still hope she will still try out and to dedicate her win in loving memory of her mom. It isn't really fair for her when she is about to complete only to lose someone really important to her.
I love Joannie's attitude and also of her outstanding composure even if sometimes she misses her marks or messes up on some jumps. Anyway, these are not important, but Joannie is technically a very strong skater and she is not easily so frustrated or intimidated. She is highly favored by the judging system. Other skaters fall, but they are much weaker than Joannie.
This program has potential, and it looks and feels as though it could potentially be a "championship program." I think she has improved a lot in her presentation and in-betweens.
With this said, this program may be too similar in every way to Caryn Kadavy's from the early 1990s... I found that a bit distracting because Kadavy did such a beautiful job with this program...
Unbelievable mistake on the double axel! I've never seen her underrotate such an easy jump.
I believe her 3F, 3Lo and 3S deserved more than +1 GOE, they were totally gorgeous, don't you think? But she got +1 on the 3T 2S sequence, that wasn't so well done, this doesn't make sense...

She's such a beautiful young lady. How unfortunate for her to just fall. Hope she does well afterall, she has beautiful transitions and choreography.

Its not falling that counts, but getting back up and finishing. :)

Good point. I really hope she regains her usual skating this season so that the 2010 Olympics will be thrilling to watch. ^^

Joannie Rochette is one classy lady.
That's how I always think of her - the lady among the girls. The girls she competes with are lovely, but there's only one Joannie Rochette.
