  • Just heard about the death of Michael. R.I.P Michael ! Tears from Romania !

  • Interviewed the Bassist Coleridege Goode yesterday and he mentioned this gig as one of his all time career highlights.

A great interview for our film on British Black Jazz artists. We read Coleridge's excellent biography 'Bass Lines a Life in Jazz' co-written by Roger Cotterrell, well worth a read.

  • They played my school circa 1969! With Norma Winstone singing WITHOUT A MIKE.

It was the first live muisic I ever heard. What a start!! The closed with 'Epiphany/ Dawn of a New Day'. Never forgotten.

  • Wonderful sequence...would like to see more of MG on YouTube...

  • amazingn that this was filmed...and 28 years later ended up on something called youtube.

  • I came looking for Black Marigolds - and found this instead. Lovely, deeply moving. From now on it's a favourite. Still want to find Black Marigolds though.

  • Did you ever find Black Marigolds?

  • No, I have never found it again. I had it on a much-loved album that I wore to unplayability ages ago. Please, somebody, put it on you-tube,

  • Hey, Mike Garrick is my father in law...get in touch if you're still looking for a copy.

  • Staggering to see this, as his Sextet played in my school circa '69 with Norma Winston. The school (Llandovery College, Carmarthenshire) proivided her with a rubbsh rented mike/ pa so she sang without amplification instead. Mike announced that the'y had misgivings about playing a public school, but they wowed us totally, and the band sensed it. It was my first introduction to live music. AMAZING gig covering the full range of jazz forms, finishing with 'Epithany'. Can you thank him for me?!
