  • Hello Trailtraveler. Yes it is possible. You would remove the internal LIPO battery and connect a plug (like the one I used) to the internal connections. There is usually a small circuit board on the front of the battery box, where the external contacts are. Melt a hole in the battery box where it exits out your camera. Good luck.

  • I have a Canon mv 5i with a NB2L battery is this also possible ? Did you remove al the components on the board ?

  • Very cool idea thanks for sharing it.

Would love to know what you connect this to, what battery and where to get it?

    Thank you!

  • Thanks shane1800. I connect it to a1C LIPO battery. I took apart a 3 cell 11.1V RC type LIPO battery. I removed the three cells to make three 3.8V LIPO battery's. I used JST connectors on the LIPO battery which then connects to the JST connector on the camera battery adapter. Hope that helps.

  • Excellent!

  • I demonstrate how to construct a external battery module for the Canon TX1 camcorder. This module will allow you to power the camera with external batteries or a power supply and not have to remove the camera from your 3D rig or tripod.
