  • Nice, it's the guy from "Who killed the electric car" :)

  • The only thing that bothers me about this video is the constant reference to the Tesla as the third generation EV-1. IT SO ISN"T! the EV-1 was not a 2 seat roadster, had no hints about ANY sporting capability, and was not for sale! (lease only) The Tesla Roadster has no General Motors badges on it, thus separating it so much more. I'd much rather have the car that this one is based on then the car that the EV-1 was based on (Lotus Exige vs the chev cavalier)

  • cybersoftjc I know. That bothers me too. Espeically since I'm the kind of person that wouldn't touch GM even with a cement "condom". This car and company is so far ahead of GM and the Tesla has nothing to do with the EV1. But leave it to "Beavers." They don't feel comfortable unless they can reference what is familiar, and the EV1 is what was familiar to Americans.

  • The EV1 was never a GM car; it was produced in secret by renegade engineers, and handed to GM which then tried to discourage and kill it. It WAS a two-seater roadster, and it uses the exact same drivetrain (only less powerful).

  • If the EV1 was never a GM car, why was it produced in a building owned solely by General Motors, and staffed by employees of that same company? It was NOT a 2 seat roadster, but a 2 door coupe. As the motor is less powerful, you cannot say that it uses the exact drivetrain. In fact the drivetrain in the EV1 was designed and built by GM employees, which cannot be said of the Tesla.

  • Actually, they were employees of AEROVIRONMENT, funded by a pocket budget from Roger Smith; when GM took over the project, these were discontinued. The drivetrain was the inductive "AC" 3-phase brushless motor, originally using 128 mosfets, now using 6 IGBT.

  • Very very nice.. ;)

  • No more grease monkeys, just tech heads.

  • The Tesla is for sale, with a one-year waiting list and the understanding that the guarantee is 4 years or 50K miles.

But Linda and her husband Howard put down their money 2.5 years ago and had to wait.

  • Did you bought that tesla ?? if so.. im jalous :)
