thx. and I agree that argument is weak but gets part of my point across, making an operating system is not an easy thing, the OS is what controls and manages EVERYTHING on board a computer plus it organizes tasks and data, etc.

OS's today are relatively the same, they just look different and vary at efficiency of managing the computer as well as have different personal experiences that vary from person to person and have different application support from companies.

What makes something like Windows 7 require an army of programmers is not that it is an operating system, but that it's a huge mess of a code base designed to run on many PCs. It's all the different hardware vendors, platforms, applications, developers (developers, developers), and it all working that makes this difficult. Making a good kernel is still usually tricky, so we tend to just build on Linux for custom jobs.

Don't me wrong you would still be able to keep your background, but that is the real FUTURE,

for whatever reason in the recording properties

the "listen to this device" option has latency

so if you have any line in audio

you have to find another way to play it

that's pretty much it. the entire taskbar is the quicklaunch now. it's different, but so much better. The same icon is used to start a program, switch to it if it's already running, and see status (like new email).

Bought a netbook a couple of weeks ago. The first thing I did was installing the Win7 RC. I'm loving it!

Saying this as a former Mac user. I "switched" back to a Windows machine cause the damned MacBook Pro had trouble with it's airport. It wasn't able to hold a wireless internet connection longer than a couple of minutes.

Not really... Snow Leopard adds minimal value in terms of features. It supposedly increases performance, but that is yet to be seen, after all Apple does not do public betas like Microsoft so you have to by Apple's marketing hype. With Windows 7, features aside, there is a noticeable performance/stability increase over Vista and to a certain extent XP.

Um... That makes no sense, dumbass. It's amazing in the fact that you CAN run l4d on Ubuntu since that is not even it;s API. Run a Linux game like EVE Online or Quake wars and you will find that it runs well. L4d runs on Vista better because it is made for it. No shit, sherlock. Linux is known to be a much more efficient operating system. You can't compare or do benchmarking with the same API on different operating systems. Try a Linux and Windows version, then compare. It's that simple.

Haha, you don't understand. Native means running games that are made for it. When you run a windows game on Linux, you have to emulate the API layer. This is very hard, and not efficient. This is what Wine is for. But, it has nothing to do with Ubuntu itself. You can't blame Ubuntu because a program that it runs Sucks. I hate several programs that run on Windows, but that doesn't mean I hate windows. Linux is actually more efficient at doing graphics related things, that's why holly wood use it

In those cases, there is little or no desktop (GUI) used. Windows (excluding the enterprise server market) is highly used in the corporate world running day-to day operations and of course for home use as well. They both have their place...
