Christians never sacrificed people to their gods like people in the ancient world did. Of course, some people do interpret it literally, but the language is clearly poetical, particularly Genesis 1. As I said day originates from 'Yom' and 24 hour periods are called a different name in the Bible, your claim is wrong.
Actually, the Adam and Eve story is sometimes thought of as symbolic for humanity in general. for morality, the Bible actually shows reasons why God does things that seem immoral now. the only reason our modern morality system is like how it is is because of Christianity. If it weren't for us, you'd still be sacrificing your children to your Gods, and things like murder, rape, torture, stealing etc would be accepted, or even encouraged depending on where you lived.

@72dew Well, you can tell which parts are written in a certain way by how they are written Genesis 1 is written in verses, genesis 2-3 is symbolicly told, most of the Bible speaks with literal messages using metaphors to get across, and Revalation is written in apocolyptic language (which is not used very much now-contrary to popular belief, it does not mean end of the world like many people now associate it with). There is many different theories on how the universe began, the big bang theory, ekpyrotic universe theory,and a couple others which I am not going into detail.
Watchmaker analogy. A watchmaker creates watches from pre-existing materials, whereas God is claimed to have created the universe from nothing. These two sorts of creation are clearly fundamentally different, and the analogy is therefore rather weak.
If God EXISTS, then who created the creator?

Christians never sacrificed people to their gods like people in the ancient world did. The whole fact noone does now is because of the teachings of Christianity and the enlightenment (which in my views was a good thing as it removed the warped murderers who called themselves Christian without acting Christian (ie turn the other cheek)). @72dew No, if you read it, there are quite a few areas of the bible which are not meant to be taken literalistic, such as Genesis and Revalation. Of course, some people do interpret it literally, but the language is clearly poetical, particularly Genesis 1. You have to remember that you cannot base what the world's grammar was like thousands of years ago to what it is like now. As I said day originates from 'Yom' and 24 hour periods are called a different name in the Bible, your claim is wrong.

Actually, the Adam and Eve story is sometimes thought of as symbolic for humanity in general. for morality, the Bible actually shows reasons why God does things that seem immoral now. the only reason our modern morality system is like how it is is because of Christianity. If it weren't for us, you'd still be sacrificing your children to your Gods, and things like murder, rape, torture, stealing etc would be accepted, or even encouraged depending on where you lived.

@72dew Well, you can tell which parts are written in a certain way by how they are written Genesis 1 is written in verses, genesis 2-3 is symbolicly told, most of the Bible speaks with literal messages using metaphors to get across, and Revalation is written in apocolyptic language (which is not used very much now-contrary to popular belief, it does not mean end of the world like many people now associate it with). And I never mentioned Chinese cannibals, so why did you bring that up?

There have been warped views in every belief, which is why we have al queda in Islam, militant athiests in China etc. The Bible says nothing about racism, nationalism or anything among those lines, in fact it teaches against them promoting unity. There are teachings in the bible about stoning, killing your neighbor if he works on sunday (violating one of the ten commandments), complete oppression of women, etc. These things are IN YOUR BIBLE. How come there was a recent case where an athiest in America murdered 2 christians simply because of their faith? Is that not in the name of athiesm? Also, communism is a form of athiesm (contrary to 72Dew's comment, 'opium of the people' shows communism IS influenced by athiesm) as is anarchism. They do things in the name of athiesm, as did several other groups.

@72dew Ok, I've heard this argument before, admitadely, but those rules are exclusive to the OT. The NT on the other hand, abandons those laws in favour of more peaceful ones, which would be more fit for Christians (the Jews still follow the OT laws, but even than, I rarely hear of such thing in todays world). As for your previous comment, no. Certain books are written in a poetical sense, not all. The Gospels, Letters to Corinthians and much of the NT beside Revalation is written literally.

also, as for why China has little records of those things, as Buddhism has a big role, and nothing encouraging or forcing human sacrifice is present, but only Judaism (and resulting belief systems like Christianity, Islam, Bahal faith etc) abolished it directly.
