I was pulled off a train at 36th street in Brooklyn at 1:00 a.m. because a portion of my leg was in contact with the chair adjacent to me (not my shoes). They ran my info and wrote me a ticket for 50 dollars because I was apparently obstructing seating on a train that was nearly empty. There were ELEVEN OFFICERS on that platform pulling people off trains for similarly benign "offenses". Why would they dispatch ELEVEN OFFICERS to do this? Quotas. Plain and simple. They're there every weekend.
Without extortion, governments would collapse. Please support your authorities and IGNORE detractors. Our very lives depend upon the thin blue line. And it's not cheap to fill those cars and buildings with experts to protect us.

This isn't the half, the quarter or even the tenth of it. Read the Village Voice story and listen to the show 670Kiester mentioned. It's the sort of corruption that goes on in a million workplaces to varying degrees, but it's extremely rare for any of it to get exposed so completely and credibly.

A dear friend of mine was gunned down working security at a city administration building in Southern California. He was just a few years from retirement. It was a random drive-by shooting they said.. It was just somebody retaliating against authority. That one in a million who like to remind us that every bad thing we do to one another, makes more anger and escalates the numbers of people victimized every day, in and out of uniform.
