  • Cheers for sharing. I was stuck after the G-D chords.

  • It was better than not bad, it was brilliant

  • @jastill69 Thanks..Check my channel for more Weddoes numbers!

  • I expected the original, but this is not bad.

  • I expected the original but you didn't disappoint!

  • Matt

I didnt want to like this.. but I couldnt help myself... yr acoustic playing is class and I have to say while it will never touch gedge you certainly should be proud! (you are also quite sexy which also helps!! lol)

  • @scotland2708 Thanks for the comments. Well appreciated. Glad you liked me...err...it...Cheers!

  • @scotland2708 good job mate saw the present in dublin 1990 good gig

  • Hey Matt - really brought back some memories from Uni! Off to see them in London in a few weeks...keep up the good work!

  • @nic1988ify Hey. If you spot me at koko, come and say hi...Looking forward to it - I love koko. Cheers!

  • Hay Matt Dude! Love this one too!

  • Superb!!! One of my fav gedge's songs

  • just listened to this again and its actually better than the original imo.

do you have any of your stuff for download? Whack some online mate ;) I cant be the only one who thinks this is win.

  • good job!

  • @youngpab2 Thanks mate

  • excellent version m8. five stars.

  • Thanks massivepinkdildo (!) Just had to write your account name...

  • @massivepinkdildo agree 100% amazing!

  • Oh wow, this was awesome. Thanks!!

  • Hi Rachel there...Thanks for your comment! Much appreciated.

  • p.s the bassline is the easiest thing to get - its the lowest notes that make you want to move.Matt partially plays it on his fatter strings. If you have a thumb its doable.

  • Luckily, I have a thumb or two....

  • Hehe - its tough to re-create the Gedgemeister - but you do the best job. Love watching your guitar work - thanks for the vids!

  • Why... thank you. Much appreciated.

  • We are your biggest fans in India and like this but when you sing 'is an essential part of LOVE' the way you stress love sounds like David Brent's 'Free Love Highway'. Looks like a comfy chair. Can we see more of it in the next video? Keep on jangling.

  • Ha Ha! I'm going to have to disagree with you no the David Brent thing! "She's dead!"...."She's not dead" Lol. Great to have someone watching in India! Fab. Can't imagine that you get many English bands playing over in India? I will certainly put more of my chair in the next vid for you, but I don't want to hurt my doors feelings, so they will both have to be in it more...Cheers.

  • we're fairly sure that we own India's biggest Talulah Gosh collection and also have the south Asia franchise for encouraging the enjoyment of Ivor Cutler. But I am still in shock from seeing how old C86 faves 'Mighty Mighty' are now - doing "Built Like a Car" on Youtube. Have you tried doing a version of 'Felicity?'

  • brings me back to when music was new and inspiring. brilliant band. good cover!

  • Hey thanks. They don't write em like they used to eh...a lot of the Weddoes early stuff hasn't dated at all. Cheers.

  • My Favourite Dress. My Favourite Weddoes song. I remember the first time I saw them. Some pub. But they did not play Once More.

  • First time I saw them on TV was them playing My Favourite Dress...So long ago now...

  • fookin awesome!!!!! i saw weds in leeds at the poly in the early 90s, and i love them still, you do fantastic covers of their stuff. i wanna learn the bass lines to the weds tunes, aaargggh, dya reck i will have much luck? :)

  • Hey! Cheers. Not sure if you know, but I play bass in a fab indie-pop band called The Candy Twins...I still don;t know any Weddoes basslines though! There is a big lack of any tabs / chords...I have had to work out most of my stuff here...Great you are learning the bass! Get all your old Weddoes stuff out fo your loft and go for it!

  • No worries matD,honest if i only knew how to play a few chords succesfully ya just KNOW id be blasting out KENNEDY big time..lol

yeah ok so i know the gedgemeister general hales from manc but they've allways been pegged as a leeds band.

tell me matt did you ever have the pleasure of seeing them play the 'duchess of york' in leeds back in the day??

  • hey man,as a life long 'WEDDOES' fan,and a born and bred leeds lad id like to thank ya for this vid,qualityman...

  • Cheers dude. It's always great to hear from Weddoes fans and especially one hailing from Leeds. Thanks again.

  • excellent xx

  • Why thank you...

  • better than your german counterparts, carry on, head on !

  • Excellent work, mate! Everything is spot on. I'm going to have to look up those chords.

  • Any chance you could send me the chord progressions?

  • fooking quality m8 !!!

  • Cheers!!!

  • bloody brilliant !!! chords are all on the top of the guitar , which would make it easy for us amateurs , any chance of showing chords ?

  • Hi again! Message me your email address and I will send you the chords. Thanks again for your praise!

  • another mighty fine effort my man, the esseense of gedge is here - I do think you'd really benefit by standing up tho? (as anyone will tell you when negotiating on the phone stand up as it changes your tone & adds authority to your voice)

reckon you could slap your self, stand up - sing to get more of that WP "grit"!?!..

    cracking effort tho, very impressed.

  • Hi visiocomb. I do take on board what you are saying..But my chair and my door are like my tradmeark now and I would be nothing without them...I guess that I am just not as angry as Gedge...He is the master and I can only be a mere shadow of his awsomeness...Cheers dude!

  • I can't do the Gedge voice so i made my version a bit more tame!

  • Excellent work mate, really really impressed.I reckon I could do the same if I could play the guitar properly and didnt have a cockney accent! I saw the wp live alot as a kid and their still a great band, quality endures and all that.

  • my favourite track ,you really do it justice .

    well my man,bloody brillant

  • It is a great great song...I, unfortunately could never do it justice with just an acoustic guitar but thanks for your compliment. Much appreciated.

  • ok i get the gdgdgdc bit but help what the hell is going on in the bridge section (1:45ish)

  • Hi. gdgdgd bit ok. Bridge - "There's always something left behind" is c and a d shape up one fret and G. The middle eight..well...not sure what you would call them...Triplets? Cheers!

  • i dont think i could ever muster up enough guts to do this and watch it myself - let alone up for the whole world to see ! sounds wonderful though, not a flaw to be found :)

  • Found it! Cracking work.

  • Another great one - Cheers - It was all brilliant but I love the last 45 secs and it sounded really good.

  • Phew! The last comment! Hey, really appreciate your comments so thanks very much. This has got to be the all time Weddoes classic. Hope they play it in Brighton! Cheers mate.

  • Jazus, your a good manny for doing all this. What about original songs? Keep it up.

  • Another goodie. I like the never minds.

  • Good stuff man. You need to a wedding present tribute band. You sound and look like Gedge(just grow out your hair).

  • Hey cheers dude. I reckon Gedge should cut his hair to look like me - surely the easier (and quicker) option. ;) Many thanks!

  • Hey ferrell. Thanks again. It always worries me if I don't get your seal of approval ;)

  • Hi Ralph. Nice to hear from you. How's things? Gigging again yet? This is one of my fave TWP songs and I struggle to do it justice on my own. Time to start a band perhaps! Cheers!

  • Gigs are definately on the back burner. My old chap is unwell again and is back in hospital so a lot of my time is spent with family. I may soon dig into my reserves and post another you tube video if i can.

  • Hello Mat. Nice to hear another post of yours. I see a few awkwarde chord changes are in there but you played like a pro! Greetings to both you and Sue.

  • Bravo!

  • Here is cover number 30 and it's one I have done before but it was beset by technical difficulties from the very start, poor sound quality and a strange whining noise (no, not me singing) so I removed it and have been meaning to re-cover it for ages. I'm happy with this one, so it should stay on here. A big thanks to everyone who has given me (great) comments over the last year...Cheers!
