CLOSE YOURS EYES AND THIS SONG WILL BRING A SMILE ON YOUR FACE!!!! And if you try to say it does not, YOU are not being truthful. This is true beautiful ballard. Kudos to both Mr. Buffett and Mr. Brown and bands.
What the f@@ is sold out " Live you had to be there" got me thru the usmc in the 80's and Jimmy hasn't let me down since ... I do like thwe early stuff best but there are some Jems in the newer stuffdeal with it :)
I think Zac Brown helps Jimmy Buffet stay in control. Jimmy sometimes gets a little "yelly" and when Zac sings w/ him, he doesn't seem to do that. I love them both, and this is a good combination.
@jkemp1124 The eastern shore refers to the eastern side of Mobile Bay. (in Baldwin Co. it is comprised of several cities along this side of the bay. Jimmys parents had a house in daphne al on the eastern shore. They called it homeport. (hence the name for he marina in Gulf Shores) At one point they had the longest pier on that side of the bay but sadly oneof the hurricanes destroyed it. The Eastern Shore is not in the Gulf but is located as it says on the eastern side of Mobile Bay.
How on earth did I miss THIS Crossroads???? Does anyone know when this aired? I really wish that CMT would offer all the Crossroads episodes for sale. There are several that I'd like to own.
@misscwoodham i don't know if you can buy it, but you can watch the full show at CMT.com.. won't let me post the link.. will try to place it in the main description...
Jimmy i love you i love to sail and my 23 year old ass would love to leave Alabama as nice as it is on a ketch or maybe a fine topsail Schooner hell even a Catalina 22 lol...I know that will never happen. lol Just like I hope you never pass the torch :)... :,( but if you do please pass it to Mr. Brown he has the heart and O course, not yours, but A fine voice.
I've had the feeling, but when you're told by friends that you were born 200 years too late. Argg Matey! Tis a fine day to be sailing off the coast of Hispaniola! The parrot shit is a different story!
Sme people just can't stand to see sombody do GREAT! I have loved Jimmy Buffett since 1974. He AIN'T sold out nothing but music and fun! BETTER ALL THE TIME!
As one who ACTUALLY grew up in Key West, I can say this very song and album meant the world to me. We had just rigged a sound system up in my 33 foot sloop and my brother's charter fishing boat. We played hell outta those songs. Smoking herb, sipping beer and being young and carefree. Every time "Coast of Marseille" came on I would catch a grouper! And a KEEPER! Well, Jimmy sold us all out. We had a great, quaint, comfortable thing going on the island. That "Margaritaville CORPORATION! Ugh.
I wonder who is the the one who disliked this song. Oh well... I love it, Zac Brown and Jimmy Buffet.. Who would of thought they would sound so amazing together.. I would love to see them live. :) Rock on guys!!
I'm from the Eastern Shore where Jimmy grew up. I liked him better before he sold out. I can't say I wouldn't have done the same thing though. I guess I just miss the days when Jimmy would show up in town and play a little dive when nobody was looking.
@jelassiterII some say "sold out".. others would say "hit it big".. i personally think that Jimmy has always been true to himself, his fans and his music. and to have a young and extremely talented Zac Brown celebrate his music just proves how good he was is and will continue to be.
@jelassiterII I didn't have a problem w/ his success & playing larger venues, because he was writing fun material. Growing up, I was a big fan, but I gradually moved on to other music. During the early-ish 90's (forget exactly when) I heard one of his then-recent albums that just didn't seem interesting. It felt like he was just "phoning in" some more songs. Storytelling (his great talent) felt mundane. I still enjoy earlier works, but that's when he lost me as a "current" artist.
