People who say one guitarist or another is the greatest are completely missing the point of the film. These guys have different backgrounds, inspirations, and create different music b/c of that. One is a sonic engineer, another is a proficient technical artist, and another is a rough and tumble back-to-roots kind of guy.

They all play the same instrument, but have unique strengths and therefore do very different things with it. To my ears, it's all good. Why argue at all? Just enjoy it.

They're not concrete labels for sure. But I saw The Edge as the sound engineer, Jimmy Page as the technical artist (formally trained, very experienced), and Jack White loves the blues and channels old-style raw music (though, to an extent, so does Page).

Slash is one of my favorute guitar players. I'ma big Zepplen fan as well. It's people like you who have no apprecaiation for what soemone like the Edge has done casue you're blinded by solos. It's not a matter of being able to appreciate music highlighters it's about appreciating the entire art of playing guitar. Hihih, funny you'd say this because the Edge is actually my favourite guitar player. I'm saving for his TC2290 delay pedal right now. The way he manages to use this delay pedal and make it a part of the art of guitar playing is amazing. However... I do think that a good solo does more instantly, at one moment, that feeling. One well placed bend. See where I wanna get at? Delay = amazement spread out over the whole piece. Good solo = amazement on a couple of awesome notes (thus more intense).
