I don't get it. Why is he in a furnished room? I thought he was supposed to tell his story from a madman's cell. Or maybe the police didn't arrest him after finding the body …
Vincent had the ability to bring out the macabre of Poe as no one else has. Somehow, even today, when I reread his works, Price's voice seems to jump off the page and into my head. This happens with pieces he did and ones that he never did - he somehow tapped into the soul, anguish and true dread that seemed to drive EAP.
I've always thought that Poe ruined horror for me - none of Hollywood or S. King tap into the fears that I think we all have, but suppress.
Edgar allan poe was a very lost soul. He was weak and wary, and no one on this earth will ever understand what he had to go through. You can really tell his pain in his writings, but that's only the tiniest shred of the dread that went through his mind. Rest in peace edgar allan pie, may you finally be happy.
Everyone needs to check out Vincentennial, the 100th birthday film festival going on right now in Saint Louis, Missouri until May 28! His daughter Victoria Price will be hosting two events!
I agree 1 billion percent that Vincent Price is the best narraotor in the world! :D Vincent Price is beyond any narrator I've EVER heard. That voice! That amazing, dramatic voicee! Along with his grasping face expressions. Ahh.. it gives you chills. Edgar Allan Poe is also genius for such suspenseful, detailed writing! Agh, great combination. That's why this video is so good! I can't imagine if it had never been done..
@Aeto22 Oh my gosh. After all these years, I have come back to this story. My class read it and watched this in 8th grade. I can't believe we read and watched something such as this in 8th grade.
Vincent Price is one of my all-time favorite actors. He had the ability to scare the hell out of me. One of the movies I love him best in is Diary of A Madman. RIP!
@Sardoodledoms Yeah that's something that's a basic trait of alot of narrators in his stories, usually when the narrator of a Poe story insists over and over that he's not insane, it's a sign that he's just about ready for a strait-jacket.
And for that, I thank you. It's funny how I also reminise Poe on the 19th of January and long for someday, hopefully soon, to take roses to his tomb and narrate to him some of his best works. I've loved the man since I was just 9 years old:( and I never really thought of him as being insane, he had more sanity than most of us. Long live Master of Horror.
2:40-2:45 WOW...First you open the glass door,in looong steps, then your eyes have to get use to the darkness, your breathing & steps are LOUD!!.Find and follow the cords & unplud them, ssslowly, cuz there are people upstairs.get every thing ready but keep your ear to the cealing.Damn.I was 13 & just the 1 time. But for having a big mouth it came back bite me in the arse.Man V/P is a hypnotist!!the way he does his dialogue he pull you in & keeps you there,he makes every thing he's in more watchable
I'm making a short film trilogy based on three of Edgar Allan Poe's works, 'The Tell-Tale Heart', 'The Fall of the House of Usher' and 'The Raven'. Poe was truly a master of his art. I always get chills when I read the final line of The Tell-Tale Heart. Vincent Price acts this out very well, he never failed to amaze me.
i really find the tell-tale heart funny because the human heart can/will keep beating for about 2 min on it's own after it's been removed from a person most likely a "beating heart cadaver"
i remember in 8th grade my fav english teacher read this to us . he covered the windows and turned off the lights and just had a flashlight and he read it sooooo perfectly. this is such a good story! love poe<33
I think his most important masterpiece is "The Raven." I am truly amazed by the power and gloom of his words. I wonder if he has made more novels other than Arthur gordon pym, possibly unpublished or lost.
