  • Hi that's great stuff. Tough on the pinky in that middle section - do you have a DVD? I really want to master some Woody licks....

    Cheers Graham

  • fair play. xxxx

  • awesome job man, anyway I can take a look at that lesson you mentioned above?

  • @cskatz01 I sell the lesson on DVD for $30 (incl shipping anywhere in the 48). It's about 30 minutes long, it's done for any level of player to understand but I had a beginner in mind when I originally recorded it.

If interested contact me and we'll work out the details.

  • @janmurph hahaha are you serious?! you're doing the same chord, not even a progression....I think I've got it down. thanks anyways.

  • @cskatz01That's great, when are you going to post it?

I'd love to see someone else cover this tune.

  • @janmurph ok I'll post one soon, I'll just look at what you are doing in this video and add my own twist. All things aside I think we can agree the breakdown at 2:27 is badass, faces just rock that out.

  • dang thats ah nice

  • Well played Sir. I am now 51 years old and have decided to take up the guitar, try and keep my fingers supple. Intend to learn this track

  • @Buttie601 Once you know a few things on guitar, and if you're serious about learning this tune, let me know.

I have made a very detailed lesson on this song on DVD, it's designed for a beginner guitar player, I'll mail you a copy when you're ready!

    Jeff

  • @janmurph Hi Jeff, thank you for your kind offer, much appreciated. Do not mind sending yo uthe postage money, or in return I will send you next years calendar of this beautiful country where I live. Kevin

  • that openning riff is so BAD! I love it. It punches you in the stomach. AHHHHHH

  • It doesn't get much more rock n' roll than this.

  • Doesn't your hand cramp after playing this song? LOL. Great stuff.

  • wow. im a huge rod/faces fan . well done. u nailed it..raw and sexy,,,

  • Great job - one of my all time Faces songs of one of my favorite groups. Love Ronnie Wood's playing on those records but always wondered how he played because his style is so unique. Thanks. Any chance you've learned Lost Paraguayos?

  • Fucking sweet dude!!! Ron Wood is a God!!! Very nice indeed!

  • Fantastic. Is there a way of playing this in a acoustic manner?

  • You've really nailed the song, the sound, the vibe. Well done!

  • @derriere1111 Thanks for saying so!

  • great cover man :D what key is this in, D ?

  • @o01R0NM4N0o yep its in D

  • Nice

  • I think Janmurph's excellent muting of the strings when playing the 12 bar stuff, is part of the key. It's an essential part of Ron Wood's sound, this guy emulates it to perfection.

  • nice pinky control, janmurph. It seems pinky movement is a big part of Woody's riffs because your other videos show alot of it. Am I correct? I've always wanted to learn Faces songs but nothing exists out there. I collect sheet music but I never once saw a Ron Wood songbook.

  • Yeah tomfunky, Ronnie could really stretch his hand down that neck and his pinky was a big part of his playing...

  • @janmurph You know what Jeff....just a couple of weeks ago I was sitting in the Pub and for the first time in all my 51 years I noticed that my pinky on my left hand is smaller than my right....most men want an extra bit lenth where it counts..not me a quarter inch on my pinky will do just fine

  • @lordearltheferrol99 well you know what they say......"it's not the size of your 'pinky', but the magic within

    ".....keep pluckin mate!!

  • outstanding playing.straight in to my favourites.many thanks for posting.

  • spot on!

  • cool! Great guitar part.

  • Damn, what a song!

  • janmurph

    WOW Great videos

Please would you post videos of you doing some of Rod Stewart's solo work? songs like Sweet Little Rock (N) Roller,Forever Young , Lost In You also some more Faces stuff like Pool Hall Richard

    Cheers

    Dave

  • Hi Dave, I'll probably get back to my guitars this winter, don't play much in the summer.....

  • Main riff is D/Dm, breakdown is D-C-G-F..then reverse it!

  • For "That's All You Need"? If so, great! We gotta make him do it!

  • Alright, time for you to show us "That's All You Need"! The best Faces song and Woody at his best. Come on! Ya can do it..even without a front disc Zemaitis! :)

  • I'm working on it goldensphinx, but that solo is pretty tough!!...........

  • yeah! awesome man, you freakin rock

  • Love this song; thanks for helping some of us figure it out. One quick question on the intro: what's the fingering you're doing around 00:10 to 00:13 with your pinky looking like it reaches up to fret XV? The only thing that seems to make sense is fingering the 2nd string at XV over the other chord, but the highest notes I'm hearing in there are the 3rd & 4th strings at XII.

  • Alex...the pinky is not doing anything at the beginning of the song, it's not untill later that you need to use it.You're ear is correct, it's all double stops throughout the intro. The song is pretty straight forward, you can get all the neck positions from the video, that should help alot. Any other questions, don't hesitate to ask....always glad to help a Faces fan....

  • Great Guitar work - When i learnt to play it,it took me ages to work out the lead work with the little finger.

Fully understand how difficult it would be to play Stay with Me, as you have two guitar parts one in open tuning. Anychance of "That's all you need" - how is your open tuning slide work? - very impressive guitar work that you have posted

  • Thanks a lot mum.....I'v been playing around with "Thats all You Need" .....I don't play much slide and you need to be a master of slide to do that song justice...maybe I'll give it a go.......

yeah the solo work in "Stay With Me" is in open E, same goes for "That's all You Need", but I believe the rythm part is in standrd 440.....thanks again for the nice comments...

  • You nailed it! Great job!!!

  • Great work buddy!!! Just goes to show what a great guitarist Ron Wood was.

Any chance you can post a version 'Stay with me' please?

  • thanks for the comment pickle...."Stay With Me" is the only song on that album with 2 guitar parts, so it would be hard to do it justice with only 1 guitar player...but If can talk my brother into playing one of the guitar parts I'll post it!

  • Great post-excellent playing there!I too love the Faces and Ron Wood was just brilliant -well they all were.

  • Thanks for the comment Tayplupe....I agree, The Faces and in particular Ronnie Wood were just brilliant..... too bad they didn't stay together a little longer and release a few more albums....

  • loved it,great playin,superb.

  • thank you kindly dave.......

  • Are you learning these Faces songs by ear or are the tab books available somewhere because I can't find a Faces tab book anywhere!

Desperate for the tab to Debris so if you could knock us one up that'd be fantastic.

  • brainmills.... I did learn the Faces songs by ear because there are no tabs for these songs, which is part of the reason why I posted them. I can't tell you how many requests I've had for the tab of Debris. I promised lochmaddyer I would give it a go, if I ever get it done I'll send it to you ....thanks for watching

  • thats brill, thanks for puttin this on! and thanks lochmaddyer for the help! much appreciated

  • Turn it up..This tune has to be played loud..Great cover..I bet your pinky was sore by the end of the song..I know mine was and I was just watching
