no. They have the exact same power system.  The ultimate just has more metal upgrades and different suspension for racing.

So how has your Slash held up after these few bashing vids you've posted? I've heard on another vid that while the electronics are waterproof, the frame and bearings are not protected and will seize up quickly after going through water (if not properly dried after each run).

The Slash 4x4 is brushless and can run on 3S lipo so it is definitely much faster than the original brushed EMAXX. However, the EMAXX has been upgraded recently to a brushless version also, which uses the Mamba Monster and can use 2 x 3S lipo which makes it every bit as fast as the Slash 4x4.

well since you posted this question on my video, I will give you my opinion.. Any 4X4 truck will excelerate better and handle better and corner better than a 2wd truck of the same size, weight and tires. The new Slash is a 4x4... the SC10 isn't... I will let you draw you own conclusions. :))

Nothing is cheap in r/c.... better get used to it. lol. The best upgrades are RPM A arms and shock towers. Pretty much anything RPM is awesome and doesn't ever break.

Awsome vid! i sat here for ages watching it over and over! The slash 4x4 looks brilliant. When you took the bodyshell off and all the snow was in there, the esc was in low voltage protection stage one! the light was flashing red!

jetlag waht charger and balancer you use? how do balancers works?

I have 3 or 4 chargers. the main thing is to make sure you have a balancing charger so that it will balance the cells as they charge. There is over 50 different ones on the market currently so there are plenty to choose from... hint - don't go cheap on your charger or you will regret it. A good charger will probably cost at least $100 but it's worth it.

It does pretty good in all conditions because of the 4WD. Much better that the regular Slash which is only 2wd

my guess, slash 4x4 will go much farther in those conditions. my slash 2wd gets stuck on rocks easily.. Back Wheels usually lift up and dont get traction, while the front wheels stay on the ground, so the slash 4x4 will really help do trails, since it seems like your going to do that.

That's exactly right, and why the military originally asked the willy's co. and a few other to create a "general purpose" vehicle with 4 wheel drive. That is how the Jeep was born. And it did so well and was so popular that it is still in mass production today. 4 wheel drive really does make a big difference. :))

That was a software zoom. I did it during the editing. The original view was of the whole stairs with no movement. When I edited, I zoomed in on the truck using software and then followed it down. These are features built into the software of Sony Vegas editing software.

i just bought my first RC car. this one the slash 4x4. i purchased a new charger and a venom 8.4v, 5000NIMH battery. it runs like a monster. but like all electric cars the battery gives out just when the fun is peaking. is there a battery i can buy that will last more than 15-20 mins? if anyone can point me to a real good battery that lasts i would appreciate it. thank you. this RC is a darn nice car.

You can buy or solder a Y-Harnes and youse two of the Packs paralell, it should nearly double the driving time.

Yes that's correct. However if you do that make SURE that you wire them in PARALLEL, not series. If you wire them with the y adapter in series you will burn out your ESC.

5000, should last long, but its venom.. venom usually has fake mah sometimes.. also nimh drains alot faster than lipo because nimh has to think about the discharge.. if you want longer runtimes get lipo.. it uses the amount of power the ESC and motor demand.

i have but the thing with the summit is that its main appeal is that it is a go on any terain, anytime. I just want want to race or jump. The summit has a top speed of 20 mph, if you put brushless in it then the whole appeal to the kit goes away. I was considereing the E-revo but for $730, its not worth it.

The rustler vxl is extremely fast in a straight line. But it's not 4X4 and the older ones aren't waterproof. Both are lots of fun, but the slash 4X4 is probably a bit more useful.

Hey Jetlag, I was thinking about upgrading my E-Revo's motor to a Kershaw Designs Twin 700-HO motor. I know it's a great motor, but people are saying the two batteries I have, twin 7-cell Venom 500mahs, would heat up to much if I got that motor. What do you think?

7cell 5000 mah nimh will work fine with the KD 700 ho's. I use them all the time. :)

I don't own any venom batteries so I couldn't say if that's right or not. But if it's true, then you need some better batteries. I have many nimh batts that I run in my E-MAXX with the 700HO motors all the time. They work just fine.

There aren't too many hobby grade 4X4s that are $200. You might try Ebay and see if there is a used E-REVO or E-Maxx for around that.

and then hit it.

OK, guys we need to explain this a bit. You should NEVER EVER charge a lipo at a higher amperage the 1C. This means if the battery is a 4000 mah battery then you should never charge it at a higher rate that 4 amps unless it specifically says on the battery that it can do 2C charging. If you over-amp you charge, this is a good way to burn down you house. Be warned!
