there was a bunch of girl guides from where i live that went to new york for fun and they were on that area walking around, they were getting tired of walking so they sat for a bit and one of the girls almost got shat by a pigian so they started walking again then that explosion happened

i was there that day. my hotel was right in front of the explosion. I was staying in the grand Hyatt. It was the scariest thing that i have ever witnessed. It was so loud, I was crying. I was alseep at the time, but i woke up because the building was shaking. I thought that it was a terriost attack. I was scared cause all the people were running down the street so i thought that something was happening...like a plane hit a building, like in 9/11.

The particular pipe was built in 1924 so it was most likely just an issue with the infrastructure....... although I wouldn't rule out the possibility, an operative could have placed a light charge at the pipe that caused it to burst, although they failed mostly because only one person died and that was a heart attack......
