  • Does this fix also apply to the newer 3.7L Inline five motor?

  • @TheCityWorkshop Honestly I'm not real familiar with those engines... hopefullt Gm fixed this problem. Thanks for watching!

  • Fixed my truck! Sweet!

  • @TheSick750 Sweet...Thanks for watching!

  • what number is you scanner

  • @MrColorado2005 Honestly couldnt tell you off hand... bought it at the local Advance Auto Parts. Thanks for watching!

  • OH! Now I remember! This is the first video of yours I watched about a year ago, or however long it's been, this is what made me subscribe. Still looking around for a truck, probably can't afford one of these, though.

  • @HedgehogOutdoors Hey really appreciate it buddy... yeah I hear you, couldnt afford one of these either their pricey. There's alot of good trucks out there man you'll find one... Thanks for watching!

  • Mine went bad on my 2005 Colorado.. $225 cost at GMC dealer to replace.

  • @MrBoy219 We'll next time it does... now you know how to do it yourself! Thanks for watching!

  • Does your oil have to be drained to pull sensor out? Or can i just pull it out at anytime and nothing will pore out? Thanks.

  • @pmoneys007 Oil doesnt need to be drained to replace... should change oil after replaced though if the screens are missing. Thanks for watching!

  • Great detail..

  • this video fixed my truck thanks.....Cam sensor cellnoid....

  • @Busaridermazz Hey thanks for watching!

  • What is better? The Chevy Colorado or the GMC Canyon? (2011 or 2012 model)? They both have the same HP, Torque, and some other things. But which is better for offroading and normal use?

  • @LaneTD15 I'd say the Gmc Canyon off road pachage. Thanks for watching!

  • After bringing my 5cyl truck to the dealer they couldnt find a problem with it, then the other day it just shut down on my wife while trying to merge into the interstate. my search began into the internet for the solution to the problem. Fixed it with the part mentioned HERE and now runs like a dream almost. still has a litte rough ideal but no loss of power between 40-50 mph when trying to merge into trafic. the only other problem now is the loud exhaust noise the engine makes go figure

  • @delchamps1 Hey good to here... thanks for watching!

  • mines fixed thanks

  • I have had the same problem on my 06 Chevy Colorado. With 90k on it. Check Engine light code P00179.Dealer changed actuator solenoid and changed oil. Drove ok for 30 miles then light back on and rough idle and starting issues.Any ideas on what else? Shall i change the other two sensors(intake) and (Exhaust).

Need to be free of this problem. Thanks

  • @vblodge Sure you already got it fixed but that's a possibility. Thanks for watching!

  • How much does that thing cost?

  • @johnpaulattard88 Which thing... the scanner or the sensor?

    Believe their both around $100

    Thanks for watching!

  • BAD TIMING ?

  • @zloben9000 Bad timing? Yeah I dont think you watched the video.

  • I've replaced this in my truck as well but the problem has resurfaced. I've heard its not uncommon to go through a few of these over the life of the vehicle.

  • @palmparadise85 Very true... I've got a buddy with about 90k and he's on his 3rd one. Pretty ridoculous!

    Thanks for watching!

  • I took my 06 for the same problem, they replaced the camshaft solenoid but when i got it back it was still having the rough idle and check engine light still on, im having a cylinder misfire and now theyre telling me its an ignition coil? any idea on how to change it out?

  • @rigoespinozajr Not real familiar with these engines... dont remember off hand if these have individual coils for each cylinder or 1 for all 5. Probably wouldnt be too hard to replace one or all.

  • Bought the exhaust, camshaft actuator from the dealer today $50. The code for this and the traction control light went away. If you own a modern vehicle you really should get a code scanner. My Actron 9580 was $199 at Advance Auto Parts. It's already saved me bookoo bucks. Thanks for making the video "Sam". This is the first I've heard of an inline 5. Four bangers now have a "Big Block"!

    Thx, John

  • @JESpecial1 Sounds good man... yeah the scanners are real helpful! Alot of parts stores will do it for free anymore but cant always make the vehicle there in some cases. That's where Igot mine at too... been a life saver! ''Sam''.... whose Sam... haha My names Jared. It's an inline 5 so it's not a 4 banger it's a 5 banger! ;)

Have a good one John... and thanks for watching! Glad you got it fixed!

  • Excellent! Thanks for making this video. My wife's 2006 HHR has the same issue. Where did you find the solenoid? You sound like Sam Elliot, you could be doing commercials for Chevy. Thx.

  • @JESpecial1 Hey thanks man... Sam Elliot huh... ;) That's a new one! I usually get get Hank Hill from King of the Hill and a radio announcer! hahah! I found the part is still a dealer only item since it's such a new vehicle... but there is such a problem with them warranties will cover them or sometimes they'll give you alittle break on the price. Thanks again for watching!

  • awsome video .........i havent fixed my rough idle yet- but i can see where to start

  • @Busaridermazz Yeah check it out... it's a real common problem with these! Thanks for watching!

  • awsome video .........i have fixed my rough idle yet- but i can see where to start

  • Thanks for this video man!! My truck suddenly started to rough idle and stall. Put the scanner on it and got the P0017. Was kind of at a loss. Parts store gave me the wrong parts that didn't work. Saw this video and then replaced the cam solenoid and fixed it..

  • @rodlpz Sweet glad it helped you out... Thanks for watching!

  • Thanks, that's exactly what was wrong with mine.

    Gotta love You Tube!

  • @bocal701 Hey sounds good man... thanks for watching!

  • I was about to replace the camshaft sensors in my sons 2005 Colorado when I came across your video. We were getting the same codes ( P0017 ) that you were getting and the truck had a rough idle. We pulled the solenoid and the screens were intact with no oil leaking through but we decided to chang it anyway. Problem solved , thanks for a very informative video.

  • @ra7083605 Hey sounds good... thanks for watching! Pretty common problem with these.

  • yea i am banging my head against the wall trying to fix P0302 code (cylinder 2 misfire detected)

  • I have a similar problem on my truck I got my buddie to hook it up to his shops scanner and all those codes came up and we looked at the misfire data and it has a hard miss on cylinder 2 only could changing this part fix that or is it a completely different problem?

  • @boggy125 Honestly I'm not really sure.... it's easy enough to just pull it out and see if all the screens and the little tabs are each of them. Possibly check your plug wires at the spark plug and the coil too.

  • Thanks for the video, it saved me a lot of time getting this problem corrected

  • @cumberlandray Hey glad to help... thanks for watching. How many screens was yours missing?

  • Thanks for the video, it saved me a lot of time getting this problem corrected

  • how much is a scanner like that?does it work for all cars made after a certain year?

  • @perka420 I got it for around $100, it's really came in handy. Alot of auto parts stores do it for free but in some cases you cant always make it there ;) This is the OBDII scanner, it works for 96 and newer.

    Thanks for watching!

  • Thats a chevy part for you haha

  • @killbillet420 Yeah yeah... they all have flaws here and there! Still a Chevy Guy! ;)

  • your one amazing mechanic man ! redneck and whit computers, thats a deadly combination !! hahahahaha

  • @josderedneck22 Hey thanks bud... Yeah pretty scary right! Thanks for watching!

  • your mom must be pretty cool....i have the same tester...great learning video

  • @2013craig Yeah she's a hoot... I've been real happy with the tester, Thanks for watching man!
