What about people retired or on disability. The Medicare we get, you still have to pay 20% of the bill if you are in a hospital situation and that new drug prescription plain that Bush signed in to law really sucks, too. It cost me more money with the plain than without it. I use to get help from the drug companies but, now with this drug prescription plain I can't qualify. What do you do when you hit the donut hole and then you have to pay 100% of all preferred drugs, like insolin?

Newsflash: you have to wait weeks in the USA to get an appointment even if you have health insurance. If you live in a rural area you have to drive maybe 60-80 miles to find a doctor that your insurer has blessed. Insurers are the problem. We need a national single payer system where we all can choose our own doctor and everyone is covered.

Healthcare is not gauranteed in our constitution and frankly I am tired of busting my butt everyday at work like many other Americans and paying for others who dont provide for themselves. Why should we be punished for their laziness. You want a better life work harder. I could afford alot more If I didnt have to pay almost half of my income into taxes that pay others not to work.

If they dont have healthcare then they need to find a job that has one. Lets look to Europe I have a friend name John that lives in England he pays a butt load of taxes because he is an IT consultant like me. Now with that in mind he pays on top of his taxes for his own health insurance because its a two week wait for crap care on the state run insurance.

I have family from England.... they would revolt if they tried to change there health care.... THEY LOVE IT.... they might pay more taxes but they all save money.... because HERE the insurance premiums are getting fucking ridiculous.... My uncle was paying 1,400 a month for his health care and he's a business owner with over 50 employees.... he could not stay in business and cover his employees... so we need to really wake up in this country

Well I suggest you bring that to the govenor of your state. The constitution does give the FED power to do anything with health insurance. As for our company we consistently shop around. Current health care costs for our employees cost about 200 dollars a month per employee. Health Care cost go up because of health care abuse. not because they want it to. Health Care Co woud make more money if everyone could afford it. But that have to charge more because of those that abuse it.

I had to take a second glance but I picked up on it.... but lets not put it all on health care abuse.... that's not true.. insurance companies have been raising prices purposely for profit ... there denying care to avoid medical losses as they put it ... we cant continue this system of greed... we've seen where that's led our country in the last couple years....

There is always some greed involed but lets face it most of this country is over weight or obese and then we have the smokers that add to the cost as well. The best bet for people to get better health care is NOT for the FED to get involved. Seriously what has the FED ever done right? Its up to the consumer not a citizen or a goverment entity to get this problem fixed. I think ins co should be allowed to deny claims based on illnesses related to substance abuse, Tobacco, Alcohol, and Obesetiy.

What about an HSA accounts those are cheap because of a high deductable I had before I got married it cost me 74 a month and I still have the account open like an IRA. The thing about HSA is nice is it keeps people form abusing the system. You have to pay a $2500 deductable before the full coverage kicked in. So you were financially rewarded for not using your health insurance. I had guys at a union job that used to get the night off of work by walking in the ER and for $15 get a shot an a note.

I just had some friends over from England they wait 2 weeks on average to see the doctor they also spend roughly 60% of their income in taxes. The fact is Ron Paul wants to eliminate income taxes. This would mean you could afford healthcare.One other point as my mother is a nurse you get people on medicare or medicaid and regular health insurance that regularly abuse the system why are junkies and obese lazy asses our burden to provide for they dont want to take care of themselves why should we?

In the UK you can see your doctor when ever you want we have local surgeries where you go and see your doctor on appointment for free on any week day you want during opening times. We do not pay 60% of our income in tax in the UK Even the wealthiest do not have a 60% tax rate.

A United States Doctor making 50k per year?... Does not compute, or exist. Free tuition for competent student doctors, and a .5% flat tax increase to provide full health care to all. Dur, who is not willing to chip in to save the less fortunate... Socialism sounds alot like mandatory "Good Semaritanism". By the way, am I naive to think that easier legal immigration brings more working citizens, who create more jobs, which bring more productivity, generating more tax dollars?

when you graduate medical school, a typical 3 year internal medicine residency will pay you $30K for 6 years until you finish your residency training. After that, you are paid between $100K-$200K as a liscenced specialist. Family practice earns even less in residency and afterwards. Surgical specialties earn $40-$50K during 8 year residency, and then $200-$400K for the rest of their careers.

I think you meant to say a typical 3-year residency will pay $30K per year. Where's the "for 6 years" come from? Surgical residencies are anywhere from 5-8 years and typically pay much more than $40-50K per year. Many, many surgeons make well in excess of $500k per year, though I won't qubble too much with your numbers.

Health care which works for all, is important. However, there must also be a means of stopping illegals from draining the limited resources we have.  That and the few who abuse the system. The Canadian system has some positives, but if it were as good as our democratic wanna bes think it is, why do so many snow birds come south to seek medical attention? Just a thought or two.

think about the fact that almost every other industrialized nation has some form of universal health coverage, and their life spans are longer than ours.

What about the French system, the German system, or the Danish system? They all cost about half what we spend per person, yet cover everybody and have better results across the board.
